2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

I think it's more likely new gala dress... Zhenya said that she wanted black dress and she seems to like it.

Yes she fought hard to get a black dress! And there are many other ladies in red dresses for their free skates, so I like that she is in black :)

The moment that photo captures is fascinating - could be projecting onto it but doesn't it look like Alina has her eye on the prize but nervous at the same time, zhenya is side eyeing Alina as if she's tuned into the buzz that her Olympic gold might not be as sure a thing as she'd like, and Maria is just in back completely disconnected from the two in front but steady as ever just moving along. Def fiction but I'll bet some truth in there...

I was surprised to see Zhenya and Alina pop up on the ISU livestream of the men’s event! They were in the warm up zone stretching together on mats, then Javier walked past and hugged and talked to Zhenya. Are they about to go to a practice session for the ladies now?

Edit, just saw the above comment that they have just come from practice!

they've already finished practice. I think they're waiting for the draw now. Or the video was filmed before their practice and showed later.

I don’t think Zhenya is looking at Alina here, it seems to be the angle in which the photo was taken.
Also, Zhenya always has a fierce look on her face during practices and competition, so I’m sure it’s nothing personal.
They seem to get along quite well imo.

they were so cute while stretching

Since the thread of pre-rotation mentioned it, it leaves me wondering if Eteri Tutberidze teaches pre-rotation as a technique? I see this not only from Anna but also from other of her girls

Evgenia said that she has completely recovered from her injury. Both Evgenia and Alina were clean at today's training

She's back!
Two-time defending world champion Evgenia Medvedeva left her fans wondering what the future held when she was forced to withdraw from both the Grand Prix Final and Russian Figure Skating Championships due to a stress fracture in her foot.
Despite the injury concerns, Medvedeva is back in Moscow, and her practice sessions put any fears of her still being injured to rest.
When the time came for her music to be played, she did a full run-through of her free program, only this time the Russian added a triple toe to each of her triple jumps: one after the opening triple lutz, one after the triple flip, another after her triple loop and a final jump following the last triple salchow. At least she is ready for any mishap that might happen during her program.
After her program was over, she embarked on a real demonstration of her mastery, landing a triple toe-triple toe-triple toe combination, followed by a triple lutz-triple salchow, triple loop-triple loop, triple lutz-triple toe-triple toe, triple lutz-triple salchow-triple toe and a final triple flip (with both arms extended over her head)-triple toe-triple toe. To no one's surprise, each jump seemed so incredibly natural and easy!
