Evgenia Medvedeva

As for the "RUsfed", they supported her even when she didn't compete on nationals and GP finals, they would definitely have an substitution. But, I I know we are in Zhenya thread, but if you just think a little, what would others say. Like e.g. Polina, does she deserve a chance? Or if you are a fan of her, does she not deserve a chance? :) And others too. Sometimes you hear "oh, those 'older athletes' are there so long, why can't youger ones get an opportunity? It is unfair." Or completely opposite "someone makes a mistake and is already replaced by some younger athlete, it is unfair." Its always two ways path.

Well, I think Alina must be flawless to win. But she will probably be flawless. If Alina as much as steps out, it's Zhenya's. I don't want Alina to make mistakes and beat herself up but I want Evgenia to win. Prayer circle...

I'm not saying they should not support other skaters, just saying the possibility of Zhenya not competing long due to lack of support. It's unfair either way. Scoring wise, they should push them all, or push none of them.
Financially speaking I hope Zhenya get endorsements that can keep her afloat.

We will see, there will be Worlds and preparations for next season, then we shall to know more about the development. But it must be pretty hard, with so many great ladies figure skaters to divide support somehow justly.

Her English is great now! I love her positive attitude and determination!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUKuzIOjlqs NBC interview! I'm happy she's feeling the magic of the OG!

Thanks a lot for the links !
I actually hate the Olympics because you almost can't find any video of the competition/post-event interviews.

If someone finds a recording of the press-conference, pls link it :agree:

I didn't like what I see last night. Zhenya was tight during SP. Her jumps now looks outdated compared to Alina. Also Osmond crept in too close. Even silver now is not a guarantee. I like Zhenya's World's chances, though. Alina will probably be tired after long season.

I will keep my comment of her performances until the FS. Nothing is done yet, as Yuzuru has done nothing is impossible this season.

I think she deserves it but if Alina outperforms her then I'm good with that. I want to see them 1 - 2. It's been a disastrous olympics for Russia they need these great girls to lift the country up tomorrow night and I hope they do. They have so much pressure on them and many in the media like that hack Christine Brennan are against them and they do not hide it. I also hope these 2 don't get tired in the LP like Yulia did 4 years ago. The team competition took alot out of her.

Good luck Zhenya.

:sarcasm:

"Even silver now is not a guarantee" - only if she straight up falls at least twice.

Especially taking into consideration 3 points of difference after SP and fact that Kaetlyn hasn't scored over 140 points in FS in this season outside Canada :rolleye:

We need to remember they are teammates and need to send best wishes to both of them. Even though I like Med a bit more, I still don't want Alina to fail. Hope both of them do well, whatever the result is. Remember there are other girls who won't just fight for the bronze and their scores are inflated.

Exactly, let the better wins due to her abilities, not due to competitor's faults.

I think both young women‘s skills are excellent and very close. They are the best figure skaters at the moment. Even if Zhenya wins the silver medal, both are just the best with SLIGHT differences. I guess Alina‘s combination with the Rittberger valued more because it’s very difficult.

What I find sad is that so quickly new skaters appear who are even better. I wish for Zhenya the gold medal before it happens, but you can never know. Just look at the three Russian girls who won the junior championships. Also Alina is followed by skaters who are even better one day.

So let’s cross fingers and hope they can enjoy their time. As should we 😉.

How you can consider it as something bad? 0_0 The more, the better - the merrier. What I find sad though is the fact that in other countries except Russia aren't many strong enough skating ladies to make healthy rivalry between countries. Especially in juniors.

Interview with Evgenia's grandmother! Valentina, she traveled to Korea, but she has not had contact with Zhenya because she doesn't want to distract her. She talks about Zhenya, many curious facts: Zhenya learned to read at two years old! wow, she reads a lot and likes mathematics (a genius? hahahaha). Zhenya's grandmother LOVES JAPAN, and Jeanne, Evgenia's mother, works in the animation industry, she has always drawn. she says that diligence is always cultivated in the family, there are no words of pride, the motto is "You act, do what you should do"

Interview here

Zhenya's skate order might be good. If they give Alina high marks, they can give her even higher marks! in PCS especially but also GOE
