Skaters programs next season (your opinion)

I’d love to see some more men trying either some closer to tango/Latin programs or some more piano music programs and NOT warhorse tangos or anything modern rhythymized, maybe some more tango jailhouse or Shoma’s 16-17 FS music (I believe it’s called Loco?) another good piece that isn’t used enough imo is the nightmare before Christmas. I’m gonna stop rambling and make a wish list....

Wish list:
Yuzu:Lord of the rings or the hobbit
Shoma: Mambo 5
Boyang:The adams family (Comedy gold)
Nathan:Gladiator....?
Alina:Jumping jack (The more appropriate half of Trusova’s SP)
Kaetlyn: Turandot or Tango Jailouse
Evgenia:Something upbeat that’s not classical (Prince...?)
Satoko:Schindler’s list (very unlikely because of politics, but still I’m sure it would be masterful)
S/H:To build a home
T/M:Kevin Reynolds’ current FS (something like a march for peace, says sanctus a lot)
Y/Z:Kodo japense drums
J/C: Choral arrangement of Gloria....?
P/C:Viva la vida or something else by Coldplay
Shibs:Pilgrims on a long journey
H/D: Imagine dragons medley or blues for klook

This is a long list... let’s see if one of these actually gets achieved, although I doubt it :/

Please, no more "to build a home" programs, and also, V/M have skated to Pilgrims on a Long Journey so the shibs doing it is a no-no. H/D have already done an Imagine Dragons program.

After Olympic season, here are some musical choices slightly out of left field for the skaters but which I think they could hit out of the park.

P/C - Drehz - Heart Cry
S/H - Celine Dion - Calling You
Evgenia Medvedeva - Mary Lambert - Body Love
Alina Zagitova - The Irrepressibles - In This Shirt
Satoko Miyahara - Elmer Bernstein - To Kill A Mockingbird Theme
Yuzuru Hanyu - Luis Bravo - Tanguera
Boyang Jin - Fred Astaire - Stepping Out With My Baby

Jeremy Abbott has already skated Irrepressibles "in this shirt" choreographed by Benoit Richaud and you can't get much better than that. Sorry Alina.

I would love if someone would skate to Pines of Rome. It was supposed to be Josh Farris's free music :sad4: and I fell in love with it when I heard it. I hope literally anyone finds it and gives it a good home.

When I first heard this song in MLB, I thought it would be perfect for Marin. It fits her light, effortless skating style. Satoko could do well with Rey's Theme from Star Wars, though I don't know if that would be too much SW (it's never enough!)

Dima could pull off Santana. I'm remembering his short from a few years ago that was instrumental rock, and I think he's one of a few who could pull it off. A Black Magic Woman or a Europa could be fun.

Also, I think Evgenia would make a good Firebird

I'd like to see Shoma do another quirky and modern thing like "Legends" for his SP. I wish he could do another tango, but maybe it's too soon since he did "Loco" for the 2016-2017 season.

Yeah, I loved Shoma's "Legends" SP (Techno Harmonicas, anyone? Per Patrick Commentates Skating :p). Would like him to try a quirky ethnic piece by Talvin Singh - You Can Find The Feeling.

Nathan Chen – Cowboy Bebop OST Tank!/N Y Rush. I can totally see him as a convincing Spike with the right outfit and haircut. Lots of cool step sequence and poses.

Last year, they had already chosen his music in January. It might have been just because it was an Olympic year, but my gut feeling is that right now, they already know what music he will be skating to. We need to corner Coach Fluffy at Worlds and make her tell us the music!

Please do so and give us the scoop! How much input do you think Shoma has (as in his original ideas)? They are doing a splendid job and every piece is so well suited to him. Can't wait to find out.

After so much Elvis, I would like a Johnny Cash medley from one of the men.

More Madonna for the ladies...Gracie or Ashley would have been interesting.

One more idea, 40 year Anniversary of Tai & Randy skating to the Planets to win worlds in 1979 so how about a tribute from a US pair team.

Here we go:
  • Yuzuru: Joe Hisaishi's score for Departures
  • Hubbell / Donohoe: 50 Shades number (Beyoncé and The Weeknd)
  • Gilles / Poirier: keep the Bond theme, but change the song to a mash-up of original and dance versions of "Diamonds Are Forever"
  • Tarasova / Morozov: it's a warhorse, but Stravinsky's Firebird would be perfect, esp. with their classic, elegant lines and his hair
  • Chock / Bates: that La La Land number that was rumoured for them last summer
  • Uno: Disney's Aladdin, including "A Friend Like Me" and "A Whole New World"
  • Medvedeva: the hits of Britney Spears, esp. "Baby One More Time" and "Toxic" (she named her as a favourite artist)
  • Sui / Han: "Yumeji's Theme" from In the Mood for Love as a SP - it's sensual
  • Papadakis / Cizeron: Johnny Greenwood's Oscar-nominated score for Phantom Thread - dark, mysterious, yet could lyrical and a bit different than their usual motif
  • Nathan: Beethoven's "Emperor"

Radionova comes back with another soaring adult contemporary ballad that some people will groan at, and some will absolutely love. (I really enjoyed her Celine Dion, and I don't care who knows it.)

So for Elena R.: "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler

Sarah always feels the need to apologize for The Weeknd.
I want Tarasova/Morozov to skate to something sweeping and romantic. I sort of want them to do the Outlander OST.

I just might have to murder you. Sorry.

Has anyone ever skated to "The Blower's Daughter"? I would love to see someone skate to that.

Also..more upbeat modern music please! I don't even care if it's not well done as long as the skater seems to be enjoying using it.

Yup - our very own Dube / Davidson, 2007/08! They killed it at the 2008 Worlds FS with it, placing 2nd just behind Aljona and Robin, and won the bronze overall.

Oh come on, you'd love to hate-watch it. ;)

See.. I should have known that.

and no, no, no.. no wind beneath my wings..ever. I like Bette. I like bawdy Bette myself. Take a listen to her live Album. We used to have it on 8 track and when I was 10 I used to be able to tell all the jokes on it. Including some very, very dirty ones that I didn't fully understand. I'd be okay to someone skating to the Rose or Superstar.

Maybe the theme song to Ruthless People with her character's rant played over it would work.

I LOVE that movie. How come it's not a classic?!?!?

Also, 1,000 pts for the live album, I live for her bawdy jokes and her Twitter.

Just be glad I didn't suggest "From a Distance" for the FS ...
