2018 Junior World Championships Mens SP

There are 47 men alone, consider the costs of sending all those skaters to Japan when a good number won't even qualify for the free skate. It's prohibitively expensive in a way that a JGP is not.

What are they saying? My google translate isn't the best lol

:otopic: My google translate tells me something about him being high in world ranking and that he has a promising future, I'm not sure either but it sounds positive
It actually gave "deniss feeling is to rank a row of world rankings for future commercial performances more valuable" so I am just making an educated guess lol

Why does the ISU choose venues for these junior events where *nobody* is gonna show up. This audience shot is just sad. Hold them in Japan or Russia (or US? or Canada? would people show up there - I'm not sure?) because that's an embarrassing turnout for an ISU championship - even if it is for juniors.

Us few Eastern europeans who did show up really appreciate the decision, as do all the little Bulgarian skaters. Holding big competitions in small countries helps with developing and popularizing the sport there.

Oh you are 100% right - its definitely a bit of a shame. Even if they did it somewhere more central europe I think it would have a better chance. But ah well.

Edit:

actually nevermind. this is a very very good point. But I wonder - do you think it would bring more attention if bigger events (aka the senior events) got there? Geniunely asking out of curiosity.

Group 7 begins. But no audience in the rink. I saw a lady holding a Canadian flag. Bless her.

Oh Camden.... it's okay, you can redeem yourself in the free....

also, I am a bad person. I want two of these next skaters to fail (probably will be Loupolover and the Czech guy) becaues Basar HAS to make the free...

Random confession: I really am not a bog fan of the knee-slide. It is just not interesting lol. But anyway, good job Joseph!!

Jumps weren't totally on for Joseph Phan, but he really made me sit up and pay attention. I liked that a lot! Maybe I'm just hot on the lookout for Patrick Chan replacements right now, but that was a promising performance.

The crowd who's there seems lively so I feel like it's a bit mean to drag the event about the crowd number.:( The ice is free game though. Even last year's Junior Worlds wasn't packed and Taipei is close to Japan and around this time, plane tickets are cheap, not to mention how much Japanese people like Taiwan.
