2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Out of curiosity have any Eteri students other than Evgenia been successful after puberty?

If it is truly out of curiosity and not out of something else I would like you to know that Eteri's first big international success was with Yulia Lipnitskaya in Sochi in 2014 when Yulia was just 15. You can do the math yourself to find out how many Eteri's students could even theoretically be successful after puberty by now.

I can assure you that with Eteri's junior squad even if one out of 5 make it post puberty nothing will change in the foreseeable future: her skaters will be dominant both in the junior and senior circles.

I’m curious to know if her technique is only viable for a very specific group of individuals.

Obviously Julia had issues post puberty and I believe Serafima was also her student, who has struggled.

Additionally, her male students don’t seem to excel in the same way her female pre-pubescent pupils do.

Obviously Evgenia has gone through puberty but she also seems to be struggling more with her jumps than in the past.

Is there a way for her to bridged that gap? I would hate to see Zagitova or the other promising juniors have to end their careers prematurely.

And some of them want to rise senior age up to 18-20, which is total nonsense and will kill all interest to figure skating.

To me, figure skating is like rhythmic gymnastics or ballet. There are retirement average age is 22, not because they're becoming weak, but because every generation has someone better, younger and more skilled.

I can imagine senior figure skating without 15-18 yo girls. It will be boring and ugly.

The young ladies make figure skating much more fresh, beautiful and unique. If one day they decide to rise senior eligibility up to 18, it will be death of figure skating.

Uh, she is 18 years old...

And really, looking at her body I think it's pretty clearly post-puberty.

Although being 18 doesn’t mean you have gone through puberty, in her case I believe she has otherwise you would have seen a dramatic change when she got injured.

Elite athletes who take even a short break in rigorous training almost immediately see their frame change.

Have you seen her mom? She's rather well-built woman. Plus those skaters' puberty delays due to continous hard trainings. Consider latest body changes of Chartrand, Kucvalska, Lecavalier and many others...

Actually, if you're looking for post puberty Russian skater with great body for figure skating, whom feds can "trust" for the future in this matter, Stasya Konstantinova is the girl.

Sometimes we can just compare to parents but it doesn't always work. My sister has absolutely no hips, no chest, no figure, thin waist etc. whereas my mother has huge figures. You can be different from your parents. And the thing with her injury rest period...

And see, I wouldn't mind Konstantinova in seniors. She probably would be more interesting than Sotskova. My issue is with her blocking juniors.

Trusova
possible FS jump layout for tomorrow
4S, 4T // 3Lz3Lo, 3F-1lo-3S, 3Lz3T, 3F, 2A
if all level 4 and fully rotated
BV = 79,12

:scratch2:

I guess I need to skip it tomorrow, and only look at the result. I doubt I can handle it, because I'll be so nervous for Sasha. 😟

Not sure if it has been discussed but did Anna Pogorilaya retire? Or are there any news on her?
I also just read on an instagram page that Medvedeva withdrew from worlds? Can´t really believe thats true...

No news about Anna
And not true about Evgenia.

I've also read that with Evgenia.. It said she will be concentrating on fully healing her ankle which to me sounds like a very wise choice!! In order t have a long, healthy carreer, the last thing you should do is to rush a recovery after a difficult injury (Looking at you, Valentina Rodionenko!)
