2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Now back to Kostornaya vs Gubanova SS.
Please go on ladies and gentlemen
I've been following convo with great interest, but also growing astonishment, which by the way has nothing to do with adversaries themselves. They provide interesting, educative discussion about basics FOR MYSELF, but how is it possible that substantial category of PCS like skating skills is so subjective?

I imagine musicality, performance, interpretation, costumes, etc.. - these are "natural" areas of vivid arguments between experts and fans, but skating skills? If two experts can't objectively assess in like 2 minutes, which girl has better SS (as PCS category), it's quite worrying for the sport, isn't it? :confused2:

Anyway, thanks again for interesting exchange! :agree:

True....

The audition will go as follows:
Eteri: jump
potential foreign student: jumps 3T-3T
Eteri: did you hear me?? I said jump!
pfs: jumps 3Lz-3T, falls
Eteri: do you want to fall all the time? I can help you with that! (thinking: you don't need any help with that)
pfs: tries to jump 3Lz-3Lo, double-carrots both and singles the last jump, falls in between
Eteri: (thinking: what the ****??) get outta here

no-longer potential foreign students: these Russians are so mean..... Mommy!!

*this is intended to be humor only. I respect all of these athletes :)*

Lolzz Eteri is something else! I can only imagine what happens when the cameras aren't there!

I could see her dragging little girls across the ice..."Since you like to fall" 💀💀💀😂 My goodness.

Someone elsewhere commented Eteri should consider a job as a general in the army.

I'm quite interested in the psychology. Russian coaches seem so intense. Is it just me??? When I saw Pogo's coach smack her on the arm, I was shocked. I saw another Russian coach (not figure skating) smack a child's foot.

but if you put more effort it's possible to make a 20 minute video of panova's spanking from this season alone

Seems there are not so many senior ladies competitions in Russia. So everybody talk about juniors.
Why not talk about juniors if they are good?
I think 10 yo Sofia Akatieva can beat many senior ladies (all but Kostner in Europe, all but Kaetlyn and Daleman in Canada if they all clean).

Speaking of Akatieva, she was soooooo good today. And beat Tarakanova's all-time record for this category's winner by 31.16 points while being half a year younger(That is, 3 months younger).

 i'm waiting

Lady in white : she ate the chocolates on the knc table...
Kostornaia : i... i... i....
Alina : You little....

Sotskova thinking : gotta warm up but this is so fetch...
Bald guy in black thinking : oh ****, the eteri stare, dramaaaa...
Lady behind lady in white murmuring : watta snitch-ka babuska....

Alena: I’m Happy happy happy.....let me jump!!

Alina: Gurl....:curse: Put your arms down...you look like a baby kangaroo...Eteri is gonna blame me for your behavior. Get serious!!!

Bald Dude: My camera battery is seriously gonna die now?? No wait...SD card full :furious:

Buyanova: Stank eye for you my dear

Polina: Man...I’ve really missed this! Feels good to be back.

Masha: T to the A to the N to O!! What’s that spell?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...-russian-women-rule-figure-skating/110737834/

The Russian federation has poured vast resources into supporting its women skaters, identifying the top talent as soon they step on the ice. They are squirreled away in the top schools with some of the best coaches, pushed to attempt the hardest jumps and most advanced combinations at the youngest ages, then unleashed on their unprepared rivals in major events.

That was one of the funniest things(and pathetic as well) i've ever read in the media about figure skating. They've unleashed our girls on their unprepared rivals!! :laugh2:

i was also rewatching old sotskova programs, from her glorious panova's days. and it was striking to see how much she regressed since then (i already forgot how good she was). 5 years ago baby-masha looked like she is next carolina

and look what buyanova did to her. and now it's gubanova's turn

Young Masha had better jumps, and was more interesting to watch.
