Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Thank you for the welcome Interspectator. I really hope so, too. I can only imagine what it's like watching him live. My daughter started skating a little over a year ago, and he is her inspiration. She emulates him in what she wears and in her skating style. We've watched him so much on t.v. and in videos I told her it was going to be a surreal experience if we get to see him on the ice in person. We are taking this trip together, and it's going to be so much fun. Even if he doesn't go, I know there are a few others she wants to see (Shoma, Jin, Nathan, Vincent). But bonus if he's there. I'm just trying not to get my hopes up just yet and trying not to get her hopes up in case he needs more time to recover. His health is most important of course.

Welcome! Yuzu is amazing to watch live. I have tickets to the GPF too! I recommend attending his practices because he often works on things that won't necessarily be his programs. He is actually fun to watch just stroking around the rink because his skating is to smooth.

Glad to hear so many of you guys already have your GPF tickets as well  It's gonna be such an amazing event next year!

Absolutely! And he did not have any accent - perfect Manderin.

Really? Thank you for telling us :thank:

I didn't know we could buy GPF tickets already and I really hope Yuzuru will be there :) (It's almost 5 am here, I wonder if Yuzuru is awake )

I can't wait to see him...really hope he's there. Do they list when the practices are going to be on the schedule of events? Do you happen to know? Because we were definitely wanting to go to the practice as well. I'm assuming practices are included in the price of the tickets? I thought I remembered reading that when I bought them.

I think they will list the schedule closer to the event but generally they have practice a couple of days before the competition. Might be good to consider taking off mid week to catch everything.

Beautiful video, I like "Continues with wings" at the end :luv17:

Wings in Japanese is "羽", so I guess he wanted to have the word in the name of the show
Thank you  Same thought! It was so fitting that Yuzu wore his swan costume in the last clip and it "continues with wings" - his story of skating with new signature moves. 4A is booked already

His nickname is Tian Tian, or Boss Tian, and Jia you is the equivalent of 'Gambatte' or 'Do you best!'

Yep, got the "jia you" "add oil" part :D (can speak some minimal Cantonese) but wasn't sure if Jin Jin was the same as Tian Tian.

I've also got tickets for GPF (finally, some North America West Coast comps!). I hope Yuzu decides to do the GP if he's able, but I'd probably go any way even if he doesn't. One of the nice things about Skate Canada (and I assume it'll be the same for GPF) is that they also let you watch gala practice! It's where I got to see Notte Stellata before Yuzu performed it the first time and it was amazing - the best version of it for me since it was the most personal experience.

I don't understand Mandarin, but I thought it was Boyang's nickname "Tian Tian jia you"?

I was listening to the clip yude posted. The fangirls were obviously shouting "Jin Jin jia you" Jin being Boyang JIN's name and jia you means add oi(literal translation) or gambatee or fighting.
Boyang went 'huh" , Yuzuru repeated "Jin Jin jia you" to Boyang in accurate mandarin. This was 2017 Worlds small medal ceremony

Any sporting event, the standard chinese cheer is 'Jia you" to the athletes.

Hi ladies, since I see some mentioning about GPF tix do u guys know when they put out only single tickets for the men’s competition? All I see are event packages?
