2018 Worlds Mens Free Skate

I guess all my karma went to the women's event yesterday, the possibility of that podium happening was about the same as the possibility of this (level of) splatfest happening

Boyang. :dbana: Considering everything that's happening in China right now this is another heartbreaker. Li Xiangning possibly being forced to do pairs, the ice dance team being broken up, Yan Han retiring instead of going to ice dance, S/H still injured, and pairs losing a spot...

Congratulations to Nathan though, takes some real guts to finish the way he did in this terrible, terrible final group.

No, Gachniski in 2011.

Cool Story Bro time: the last time I saw Artur he was live-streaming from Russia in a Japanese variety TV show because Murakami Kanako said she had a crush on Artur back in the day and the TV program surprised her XD

Nope...Artur Gachinski, another famous headcase who disappeared

Artur...I feel so bad for him...he had such promise and they were so terrible to him. They really beat him down, it was horrible! When he retired the head of the Russian Fed basically said "You suck." I wanted to punch him in the face.

Aww SBS decided the US anthem didn't need playing

Disregarding the last group, I'm really happy for Brezina, Vasiljevs, Tomono and Bychenko! They were my absolute favourites today :)

Look I don't know what the technical controllers say to the medalists there, but can you just imagine someone coming up to you and saying "congrats, but you need to fix your lutz boy"

We all wanted clean Olympics, and got it, so we couldn't get clean Worlds I guess.

I'll still take it like that.

Low key, what I'm happiest about with Nathan was the end: 1) he landed the 3A, 2) he landed the half loop combo :eeking:, and 3) there was no wonkiness on the final spin.

In the grand scheme of things, if you think about it, the right people won the OG and WG in this important Olympic year, for both ladies and mens: Katelyn being the most improved skater of the quad IMO, Alina throwing down the technically most difficult FS in senior ladies, Yuzuru dominating most of the quad and constantly breaking records (his own), and Nathan pushing the others (including Hanyu) to up their technical arsenal.

Tomono was my hero for this event

Counting out heros, pretending the last group didn't happen,

Tomono, Shoma could not have done it alone! What a spirited skate.
Deniss, perfection!
Misha, Soul of skating
Bychenko, Best worlds placement of his career?
Brezina, a clean-ish skate?
