He really fought for that silver! Even though it wasn’t his best skate, I’m so proud of the attitude that he has. He just keeps going, no matter what, and I really admire that.

GUSTS AND GLORY omg!!! i was crying. omfg the crowd was going so wild :luv17::love::sad21:

british eurosport commentary : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea1msET_6hY
So agree with what Joanne said : "And it's a mark of how incredible a presence he is on the ice, we have seen and heard that piece of music, Nessum Dorma, be used countless times in skating and usually if the program is not technically there that crescendo of an ending falls completely flat but somehow he still, after 3 enormous falls, created a moment. That is quite something, there are so few skaters who would be able to do that. These falls, although i think he is making the rotation, or certainly only a quarter under, they are big falls, certainly that 1st one on the loop..."

also Shoma was serving looks at the press conference looking so damn hot. His answer about what he likes about Mika and Nathan was so cute too.

im dead. bye

that's so true! it really is a testament both to Shoma's strong spirit, and his talent, that he stayed in character throughout the whole skate, fighting against several mistakes to create a beautiful moment :luv17: even though it definitely was not his strongest performance I am just so awed by his resilience

Though Shoma is described as a tennen person (or live in his shoma world most of the time), I always think his mind is very clear when answering something really critical.

I haven't been so nervous watch live for a long time, I felt pain for Shoma's falls and thought it was really incredible that he landed most of his jumps and combo safe in the later part of program...then I saw tears on his face when he finished his program and walked to K&C...

I was relieved that Shoma fought to the end and saved 3 spots for Team Japan (with Tomono).

Brave fighter please take a good rest and enjoy playing mobile games...

btw I think Shoma didn't nod off in press conference only cox there were much less press conference for WC :P

Just finished watching the press conference and compared to last year Shoma has really grown up and matured, just listen to the way he answered all the questions. He wasn't even nodding off at this press conference :laugh2:. But seriously so proud of what he did today.

edit: here is the press conference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3VCwmExAx0

I think Shoma is much more intelligent and competitive than his clueless demeanor suggests ;). It's kind of hilarious how he seems like a mess in his day to day life, and yet he's so incredibly composed when he needs to be.

I really really hope Shoma would rest his ankle (and everything else after this). It had been a crazy busy season for him that I fear he is overworking. I read that he still has ice shows to do soon.

I am so proud of our Prince this season which may have been his toughest season so far. First doing 5 quads in the FS at Lombardia, then competing at Japan Open in just a few weeks. Caught a flu after going to Skate Canada and then having a tough time recovering in France. Having a rough skate and missing his own expectation at GPF and Nationals. Then finally he is back on track at 4CC and finally had his moment at the Olympics. Sadly the boot issue and the ankle disturbed him at Worlds but he is so determined to carry on and attacked everything because he takes the responsibility to keep 3 spots for Japan so hard (Kudos to Kazuki too), this is definitely not the way we want him to win the medal, but his determination deserves all the respect. Time to rest and sleep and play games and eat meat! Otsukaresamadeshita!!!:o::sad21::hap85::yes2:

I agree with you completely. I watched the press conference and I kept thinking to myself, "he looks so good, so hot". I love his hair like this, with his bangs covering his eyes a little. I hope he doesn't cut it but he probably will. I need more pictures and videos of Shoma running his fingers through his hair to push it back.:o:

Yes, completely agree. Our Prince carried Team Japan and I couldn't be prouder.:thank:

Honestly, I shall never rewatch and remember this messy event... I never forgive people to criticize him about his podium in spite of falls. Japan could get 3 spots without his podium.

Haha, anyone who blames him for medaling is blaming the wrong person. We knew Shoma has strong willpower. I was so, so proud of him for doing so well after falling 3 times. He didn't land a single full 4F and 4L in practice today, despite trying many times on the flip, and yet he decided to attack it anyway. Only respect. I didn't think he would medal after that skate, but it's not his fault that the other men who could have gotten ahead of him flopped terribly. No one wanted to see Boyang fall five times (and pop once) nor Vincent fall 3x. Everyone wants a good event, and I think Shoma himself was surprised that he ended up 2nd at the end of it all.

And yes, the crowd loved him. [emoji4] He was able to create a moment and turn the terrible feeling after 3 falls to winning despite all odds. By winning, I don't mean placements, but winning against his mistakes and turning it all around. "Vincero!" was not to win the event, but to win against his injury, and he did it. [emoji4]

I am so emotionally drained I feel like I skated! When we were getting ready for the last group, when I saw the look on Fluffy and Sho's faces, it made me really nervous. They were directly across from me. When have we ever seen Fluffy without her 1,000 watt smile? Who knows -- maybe she is praying here! https://twitter.com/Arriba627FS/status/977643534374359040 And look at Shoma. Talk about worried! That's his worried face. https://twitter.com/Arriba627FS/status/977643786665975808 And I think that face is even more kakkoii than the happy face! And of course there were cameras right in his face the whole time he was standing there waiting to go on with the final group. Oh, he looks so smol, small, and nervous! https://twitter.com/Arriba627FS/status/977643661927309312

After he fell on the 3 jumps and stepped out on the 3A, I figured there was no way on this earth that he was going to be able to do the 3 jump sequence. And of course, then he pulls it off beautifully. The poor gentleman sitting in front of me. I screamed so loudly right in his ear. Thank goodness he was Japanese, cos I think maybe he was screaming too. The arena was going bananas. Then to be able to tack the 3T onto the 3S. What a fighter...This is not exactly how I wanted him to finish out the year, but I'll take it. Couldn't have been prouder of him. This guy has grit and determination!

Happy for you that you could watch such a fierce skate by Shoma! Of course, it would have been better if he wasn't injured, but still. He's awesome. :luv17:

I almost tore up at the 3A-Lo-3F. And then held my breath for the 3S-3T. The cantilever into final spin was really something, fitting the height of the music so well. It was such an emotional skate. The audience cheering him on is just otherworldly, whether or not they knew he was fighting for the 3 spots and not just for himself. I have watched this Turandot growing through the season and this maybe the skate I love the most. It is far from perfect but he threw everything down for it. It reminded me of why I fell in love with his skating in the first place. Shoma is always such a fighter, hope he could rest well after this.
