Actually he did announce Shoma. He announced everyone out of order and the skaters were just coming out onto the ice. He was announcing them with nicknames corresponding to their programs. With Wakaba he said, "hallelujah, Wakaba Higuchi", "Mr. Quad, Nathen Chen", "the Pop Star, Misha Ge", "The Star, Shoma Uno":2thumbs:
He said more that I can't remember now, it was really funny. I liked this Gala.

I'm glad you caught that, because for me, what he was doing made no sense at all. And I could see that Shoma didn't even understand if he was supposed to skate out. That was strange -- but that's ok. I usually don't go to Galas, but this one was pretty good. I went because there were quite a few people I wanted to see. I saw on my ticket that it said 121 Euros. I didn't notice because it was part of the all-event ticket. Don't know that I thought it was worth 121 Euros (:dance2:), but it was still fun.

Like you all, I rewatched his Free. It was a miracle that Shoma did hit the last 3 jump passes, filling in all combos as planned. After his third fall, I was prepared to see a meltdown a la 2004 Eric-bompard-daisuke-free tbh... But Shoma proved me wrong once again. Even with those awful falls, he didn't throw away the performance as a whole. He didn't give up till the end, because he knows that every other elements, its VB and +GOE would count at the end of the day of competiton, he did his best in order to get the enough standing to help team Japan for next year's worlds in Saimata.
I think I wrote this before, but what amazes me the most about him is if he falls on a jump he always gets up right away, dashing back to his performance, if he falls again he's up again and back to it even with more speed. If we follow the sport closely, we often see skaters fall a couple of times then they eventually lose their focus and just give up. But Shoma never let the nerves/pressure eat up him. He is one tough competitor. Also, a back-loading free, solid 3As in the second half, most of all, his stamina both mental and physical to pull it off helps him dearly. Hats off to this young man. :points:

Maybe he didn't fit in to them anymore... :o::slink:

In PyeongChang when he wore the white pants I was like "Holy...the thighs grow bigger!" So many protein gain from yakiniku!

But darn it -- check this out. It's the new Risport banner. For some reason, they absolutely refuse to put the mighty thighs on his banners! Here he looks almost as small as on the leprechaun banner. It's a BEAUTIFUL photo though, other than omitting the mighty thighs. They were giving out postcards of the new picture. Thx to Latremu's persistence, we were able to get the new cards.

I wondered right away what happened to the I-can't-breathe-they're-so-tight white pants. I prefer This Town, but his See You Again is nice too. It was really funny at the end when the announcer was calling out the names of the skaters who were supposedly skating out. Bradie Tennell came out, and he said the name of a pair! Shoma came out and the guy didn't even say his name. I could see Zachary Donahue from the U.S. was joking with him about it. I wonder if they had the infamous banquet last night or if they'll have it tonight. They're probably all so tired. Sho would probably rather order room service and get yakiniku.

I think the banquet is tonight

Just had the chance to watch our Shoma Cupcake's gala exhibition. It warms my heart to see him jumping with no difficulty and skating so beautifully to the music, sigh. Just absolutely lovely!!! I had to download "See You Again" just so I can visualize his skating while listening to the song at work. Did anyone notice Shoma's beautiful hands shown at the beginning pose? Despite the injury, Shoma made his country and fans really proud and I cannot wait to see his new programs for next season. Thanks for sharing the love.

He did an excellent performance at the gala. I'm so happy to see him jumping and with a relaxed look on his face after all that he went through the last couple of days.

Yesterday when I could finally watch his FS, I couldn't stop crying so my hubby asked me what was I watching (he's not into FS). I showed him the free and told him what had happened. He was impressed and told me that Shoma's amazing and he totally understands why I admire him so much! Shoma really has an effect on everybody!

Today while watching his gala exhibition, my 10 year old asked me "Mom, how can Shoma be injured and still skate so well and at the same time be so cool, kawaii and handsome?". I just answer "I don't know, he's Shoma!" And yes, he's one of a kind!

Now lets all send him good vibes so he can recover 100% and surprise us again next season!!! Hope he rests a lot, pampers himself by sleeping, gaming and eating yakiniku and fully recovers from that nasty injury!

Thanks Shoma for a wonderful season!

I wonder how much rest Shoma will get, is scheduled to start ice shows this week and has several scheduled. In an interview he also stated that he is going to start practicing his quad salchow again.

Thanks Echeveria for posting the link :-)

Shoma has returned to his Shoma world when answering questions hahahahha

Now I see why Shoma was blaming himself for the boot problem. https://twitter.com/yawning_shoma/status/978222023653675008

I am sure that he won't make that mistake again and will break in a backup pair of boots during the season.

Sho's brother is becoming a spokesperson for Shoma. lol

This is typical of Shoma blaming himself but there is no way he could have foreseen an ankle injury.
Like he said he will learn from this experience.

Could never predict this injury, but I think Shoma has learned from this experience.

Itsuki is doing a great job as his spokesperson. :agree:

That umbrella type thing that came down from the ceiling was so cool! That was definitely a decent gala. I hope he got to have a piece of that yummy looking b'day cake he and Kazuki gave Satoko.
