Mhmm, exactly what RSU wants. That way, guys like Hanyu and Nathan who have multiple beautiful quads can brace themselve for a new era of Mikhail Kolyada, 5-time world champion! :hap57:
I'm calling it now!
Also, who cares that 2nd half jump values will be limited -- we have now the power of +5 GOE!!![]()
What's the reason for shortening programs? Is it for athlete safety, fan interest, organizer logistics, etc?
Broadcasting. Shorter competitions for the TV audience.
7-quad program. I want to see the 8-quad program.

Frankly, I thinks this is BS. At lengthy competitions most of tv stations broadcast only last flights. At GP, even if they shorten judging time together with the skating time (less elements less to judge!), it will improve the situation by, what, 12 minutes?

I didn't say it made sense.![]()
Also, I don't see why we need to expand the number of pairs in the long. I don't think we are missing enormous talents like this. It would be nice, but people can only stand so many hours of figure skating.
Erm... No, but I also don't think this is the way to enforce better programs. Quads require too much set-up, unless someone's really comfortable with them, so 7/8 quad programs aren't very good. I see their point, but the method, as usual, is terrible.
No no, I get that ypu were only quoting the ISU reasoning, I meant their reasonkng was BS!

12 minutes = 48 CM (if the CM is 15 sec) or 24 CM (if the CM is 30 secs)I didn't say it made sense.![]()
You really wouldn't want to see someone with two quads axels in a program if they could do it?
12 minutes = 48 CM (if the CM is 15 sec) or 24 CM (if the CM is 30 secs)
If it’s true that the Japanese federation requested that... then it totally makes sense per their viewpoint. Their CMs are packed on tivi.

I like diversity of programs. I like variety and I don't mind the trade-off. Yes, you probably sacrifice some artistry to get the athletic feat - but that's OK for me. Ideally judges would settle that tradeoff using GOE and PCS. The technical and artistic sides of the sport are always somewhat in contest with each other. But, at the end of the day, this is still a sport and I think we should be receptive to allow technical skates. Very few skaters artistry is so bad that I don't think a marvelous athletic feat should be disallowed or discounted. You really wouldn't want to see someone with two quads axels in a program if they could do it?
No.I just don't think doing just technique or just art is as hard as doing both convincingly.
