Alena Kostornaia

I know, I mentioned it as a proof that not only at nationals there is some politics.
What is politicism?

Wouldn't ISU benefit rewarding the better skater anyway? In the long run we they need to push better skaters in terms of talent for long term star power

She already skated against Alina. Zhenya was injured. Alena got the bronze at Russian Nationals this year.

I know she skated against Alina at nationals. Alena did great for 14 she won bronze and some thought she deserved silver. But Alina and Evgenia have a greater stature now after the olympics so seeing Alena compeing with both for the very first time at nationals will be a phenomenol first.

I don't think so, after all, her score from senior nationals was pretty equivalent (even a little higher) to scores from international competitions. You can also blame judges on int. level that her pcs score is pretty low, but that's the way it is.
You didn't get what I mean. I meant not that Alena got too low score - but that others were overscored tremendously. Both Zagitova and Sotskova had very dirty skates, with couple of UR jumps each - which of course were conveniently unnoticed by tech panel. And I even don't mention overscored GOEs.

Are you saying that you think Alena should have won Russian Nationals last year over Alina?

What age is eligible for Russian Nationals? Minimum age.

Also do you know who was the youngest Russian National Champion? As an Alenka diehard fan I think she can win next year nationals to be honest. Her artistry has no rival

now it's 14, but there are exceptions being made sometimes

Sotnikova in season 2008-2009, she was 12yo when she has won

You know, there is a tradition in recent years, that the person who medaled at previous Nationals, wins it next time. Radionova, Medvedeva, Zagitova - they all have done it. Kostornaya already medaled at Nationals :)

Wow.. From a Bronze a gold is a big jump. I hope to see 3A by Russian Nationals.

Believe it or not Adelina won Russian nationals at only 12 years old 2 years before she wn junior worlds. That is an incredible record that will never be broken or equalled,

Yes, and Daria, maybe Anastasia and even Anna? Eteri can arrange her own championship

i hope too! i'm planning to go there and watch it live

that is gonna be much more than Olympics :)

You may be right. It should be amazing. There will be really good figure skaters not even making the top five at nationals.

How so?

Maybe silver over Masha. But not.gold.

I'm not Elucidus, but as another person who thinks Kosto should have won Nationals: she was pretty much perfect throughout both programs. Even her Lutz edges which are often ! or even e were good there. Alina had a step put on her SP 3-3 and the 3Lo there was definitely UR (it was relatively close to DG), but not called. She had some borderline jumps in the LP too (again, -3Lo, -3T and 3S, which also had a scratchy landing). I don't think it's wrong those weren't called, but it should definitely affect GOEs. In general, Alina still has a higher BV, but Kosto at least ties her in everything here regarding to GOE and should get higher on some elements - her 2As for example are better. Kosto also has better Skating Skills, her choreography is just as packed with difficult transitions she actually executes better, cleaner & smoother then Alina. So Kosto should have higher PCS, IMO.
