2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

i'm just not a big fan of "artistry" in a SPORT

more like a good bonus to have (in my opinion)

Figure skating is based in athleticism and artistry mixed together though. That’s why you got music and costumes and a performance score😁

I think that most people believe that if you teach correct technique your skaters will be able to enter adulthood and maintain or enhance their skating. Of course, all skaters have moments of struggle during puberty/ injury but good coaching and hard work enable them to skate well into their 20's and 30s. Many skaters have improved dramatically with age technically and artistically. (as charlotte14 mentioned above) The bronze medalist and world champion Katelyn Osmond is 22 years old and has improved dramatically in the last couple of years. Nothing wrong with producing teenage champions but most people want their favorite skaters to continue to skate for years. Eteri has produced only one lasting champion: Evgenia Medvedeva. (so far) She is 18 and would be viewed as young skater in most countries but in Eteri's camp she is a grandmother. I love some of Eteri's juniors specially Alena K. (beautiful) but I don't think we want all the girls to be abandoned as soon as they hit 16/17. Great coaches don't just care about their own personal glory they want the best for their students. If a student wants to continue to skate and to improve a good coach will be there to support and guide them. Obviously, Eteri's adult students don't feel they are getting this support from her. Which is fine. She has a right to focus exclusively on teaching young girls. But, it is also fine for those skaters to seek help from other coaches. They should not be forced to retire at 18 if they want to continue skating.

I think it's wrong to put this separation Eteri/Evgenia on the fact the presumably Eteri doesn't know how to deal with adult ladies.
If Evgenia would have won the OGM, she wouldn't have moved.... that's it.

Exactly... and btw at this moment I am mostly worried for Polina. Where is she now? Is she OK?

She doesn't know and she doesn't want to. We all know what her opinion is on all of this.

Seriously people, already condemning Evgenia, always circling back to her saying that she would never leave Eteri? Well guess what, it was two months ago. Who knows what has happened since then?
I am not gonna deny everything she has achieved with Eteri, because it is great. But can't we just let her be now? As if Eteri is a saint, coming down on Evgenia like that yesterday, saying she just found out when the director of Sambo 70 has spoken on Friday. I mean, come on.
I just don't understand why can't she just let her go, like other coaches when their students go. Like Radionova's coach for example.

My trustworthy insider says Evgenia will switch to ice hockey. Why not? She can skate after all. She only needs to learn how to deal with the puck.

+1 more hater of Eteri's camp?

There's a bit of trouble there if you think that is hating. I could equally call you a worshiper since you allow for no criticism whatsoever. She has excellent success with younger athletes. It does not translate to adult ones. She has never had one, and now that the opportunity has presented itself, both have left. And yes, her comments are more than enough to be very clear she has no desire to because she thinks it's a waste of time. It's actually not a crime; she's allowed to focus on one age group. Many do. But if that is so, then just release the rest, without this nonsensical drama.

When it's Alina's turn, and it'll come, what can I say but good luck.

It's not just about Med now. They're saying Polina got kicked out of the group and the words they threw at her were absolutely DIRTS.

I hope that is not true. I really like Polina. Her jumps and SS are really good. If Eteri does not want to coach her anymore, she should just allow Polina to peaceful move to another coach.

Eteri Tutberidze, who coached gold medalist Alina Zagitova and silver medalist Evgenia Medvedeva, says Medvedeva has frozen her out. She also suggests Medvedeva wanted Zagitova barred from the Olympics.
Russian officials say two-time world champion Medvedeva has quit working with Tutberidze, who tells state TV that Medvedeva simply stopped answering her calls and messages last month.

If it's true, what Evgenya said to Eteri about Alina...and i think Eteri cant lie, she has no reason to this. In this way, Zhenya lost all sympathy...+1 Team Tutberidze

Eteri has no reason to except from the fact that her most loyal skater has just left her AND she definitely hasn’t lied about any of her skaters before when they’ve left her

I hope,too, that this isn't true.
Polina is an amazing, but neglected girl.
I don't know who would be the perfect coach for her.
If she leaves Eteri, I think that would be great for her to collaborate with a strong technical coach because she has such wonderful jumps, like alexey Nikolaevich Mishin or Rafael Arutunian.

Poor Yulia was lazy, Pitkeev was lazy and Voronov was lazy too. Too many lazy students in her group.
