Will she go to Japan Open? she always gets invited but I don't see it in the ISU calendar yet but they seem to always be on the first days of october so maybe she won't go to Finlandia (Oct 04 - Oct 07, 2018).
I don't know anything about GP assigments and how are they chosen but I would love for her to go to CoC so she can have the whole colection of GP medals and she also seems popular in China so more love to Zhenya.

Japan Open is not in the ISU calendar because it is not considered an ISU competition. Skaters only perform their FS and retired skaters take part so it's almost an exhibition. I think she will be invited regardless, Japan loves Zhenya

Since Zhenya is no longer number one, she doesn't need to be perfect in every competition. Especially if she is going to work seriously on changing her technique and lose stability because of this, so there's nothing wrong with losing Osmond or someone else at the beginning.

But I doubt Zhenya herself would be contend (edit: content, shame on me) with "not being perfect". She made pretty crucial decision and I bet she is wiiling to prove it was the right one, as soon as possible (and of course as soon as her health allow her to compete).

But playing safely is not an option also. If she will be going to rework her lutz it is going to be very risky jump at first, the same if she would try new 3-3. Even she will would just change her music style it is also can be risky. But what Zhenya lose she is not number one for federation anymore and not obliged to be miss perfect on every competition in order to keep their love. Also she have to be prepared technically to the next year where junior technical monsters will be coming.

I think Zhenya now then ever needs to prove that she can perform and win. She’s made this massive decision and she needs to prove it was worth it—she would have almost certainly been number 2 under Eteri but Zhenya wants to be number 1 which is what’s amazing about her. Furthermore if she doesn’t do well her PCS could drop fast as she won’t have her consistency and won’t have as much fed support lobbying for her which can be seen in how Alina’s PCS skyrocketed. As far as I can see it if possible she needs to end next season above Zagi (whose jumps may change or improve next year) and any other Russian if she wants to guarantee herself a place on the team the year later when the quad squad move up.

she will not naturally be content with that, no, but she's going to have to learn. Orser has said as much himself publicly, and you can be sure the two of them have had discussions on the matter. the change in training style and environment coupled with her late start on account of her injury and relocation are likely enough to cause struggles this season by themselves, to say nothing of the possibility of her adjusting her technique. it's quite the gamble when you think about it, given that this season represents by far her best chance for future success, and the drama caused by her departure is, as I'm sure she is well aware, likely to intensify in negativity if she struggles. not one to rest on her laurels, our zhenya.

I do not think that her second mark is in real danger anyway. Especially if she continues to work on skating skills in new group.

Yep. she must be perfect and thats why she really should talk with a good sport psychologist(better be prepared for worse). Zhenya is like Federer, Nadal, Messi, Ronaldo and O'Sullivan. They have one thing in common-unrelenting passion(always hungry to win more). Second place is a failure. So it will unbearable to be 2nd or 3rd(we saw it during Olympics). unfortunately the pressure will be enormous. Imagine how Russians will react to her failure(second or third will be a failure to them). haters will talk about money, changing coach. it will be really nasty.

No, she must not be perfect at the beginning. She has pressure but zhenya has shown for three years that she can deal with it (the pressure on Alina will also be very high).
And the haters already talk about this. So Zhenya should just ignore them and I think that is what she is doing.

As far it was seen from the facts not from rumours Zhenya bears her defeat with dignity, she congratulated Alina properly, she immedately admited her defeat in front of journalists and named the reason of her failure - weak technical score. Not everyone in her situation behaved like this in previous Olympics.
Of course, there will be more haters due to the desire of a certain party to portray her just as an ungrateful capricious mentally weak girl. But considering that she has been living with many haters for more than three years already, this will not be her main problem.

i am not talking about Eteri or Alina. i am talking about Zhenya's soul and her mental state. Polina said that Zhenya after olympics was drained, exhousted. When you are always first it is hard to handle a loss. when you are losing you start doubting your skills, future( does it make sense?) and figure skating is no bed of roses(especially in brutal Russia, remember Yulia? stars, they come and go). I didnt say she cant deal with pressure. i just said that a good sport psychologist can be helpful to deal with pressure and her failure will cause a gargantuan( i told you so people) wave of hate.

is that new? she looks so young, maybe no makeup again

And I admire how she handled the disappointment after OG. But there is not only one "certain party" when it comes to desires  And there are more skaters who has to deal with such things, with much less experience in it. Lets wish them all strong nerves.

But Polina said this not only about Zhenya. Olympics are hard for everyone. And Polina also said that Zhenya recovered from this and it is seemed so especially in Korea when she got her happy-end in her favorite black dress:).
