Wonder if they serve Cassis at this famous bar! https://twitter.com/kobucha_5A/status/942047367649312770 Also was looking for that photo of Shoma at the yakiniku restaurant where his face is all flushed. Remember that one? We were joking about what was he drinking now that he is an adult. It was either that or he had meat-cooking duty that night (while Itsuki gamed) and he got too close to the fire. He was so cute - his face was all red!

Dreamer57, welcome and thanks for the links! I hadn't seen the first one and it's pretty cool!

Thanks :)

The ticket for the gala in Milan was 150 euros, I think. I think echeveria went too, so she might know. The Milan tickets were a lot more expensive than the 2017 Worlds tickets in Helsinki, though.

That's really helpful! Thanks everyone! :)

ISU have released an updated proposal of the scale of values etc. and it looks like the steps , spins and some jumps are being downgraded...with -5 to +5 being implemented.

Yep, there's a whole lot of mess on twitter on the new BV and rules. I would just wait until we can see how it will be implemented. Didn't they talk about having a test event at the start of the season?

I have been an Uno fan ever since I unknowingly became addicted to figure skating some time September last year I think. I love this thread :)

Welcome to Shoma's FF we treat all types of Shoma addictions here!;)

Belated Welcome to Dreamer57! :)

I guess they've been spending so much time on the new rule proposals that they couldn't find time for GP assignments, but june 29th just seems so late.

In the latest vol. of Chukyo University's sports magazine, Shoma appeared in the coverpage and there's an article about him.
https://www.chukyo-u.ac.jp/information/publication/sports/18_chukyoSportsfinal.pdf

The article mainly reported the two press conference held by Chukyo U and Toyota (in late Mar? and Apr respectively) so I think most of Shoma's part has been shared here already :-)
There was a journalist who asked Shoma: "Why haven't you bitten your OG medal?"
Shoma: "What's the point of biting it?" ("Why is it necessary to bite the medal?) <- I have watched the video and Shoma looked cute when he answer this question, I felt his face was full of question marks for such "unpredictable" question

Do you guys think Shoma will receive the assignment for the French GP again this year? I am sorry if this question was already asked.

It seemed everything happened earlier last year (program announcements, GP assignments), probably because of the Olys? I found my happy post from 2016, and the assignments were given on June 30 -- boo hoo! So I'd say June 29 is about right. https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?55427-Shoma-Uno&p=1449414&viewfull=1#post1449414

Shedi0806, Nathan has expressed an interest in the French GP due to his school schedule (and Sk Amer is pretty much a given), so it seems doubtful that Shoma will get that. Mikhail will get COR. So his most likely possibilities seem to be Sk Can, China, and NHK.

ArianeJoy, the Prince is very addictive. Welcome to the Dead Banana Club. It's good to have the support of other fans when NoShomaNews-itis strikes.

We believe that he's probably not going to France this year. Reason: Nathan Chen mentioned he wants to go to France. Thus Shoma cannot go, because Nathan, the rule says, has free choice as the World Champion and Shoma has to choose the leftover Grand Prixs and probably is not going to choose Rostelecom, because that is seen as bad form? (They would want their own medalist Kolyada there) That leaves Skate Canada, NHK, Cup of China. Of those Cup of China and NHK are back to back. Skate Canada and Cup of China are back to back. The only way to not go back to back would be Skate Canada/NHK.

Most probably:
Nathan Chen: Skate America, Internationaux de France
Shoma Uno: Skate Canada, NHK
Mikhail Kolyada: Rostelecom Cup, Cup of China

Welcome ArianeJoy ! Post long and often !
I agree with Arriba and MaiKatze regarding the GP assignments.
The only thing that might make it a bit more trickycomplicated are Yuzuru's assignments... there was a rumour he was going to IdF (another reason why Shoma won't go to IdF), and then NHK and Skate Canada would be the most practical for him but JSF won't want to have their top 2 skaters at the same events...

Mid-Sept. Challenger Series
Oct. 6 Japan Open
Oct. 26-28 Skate Canada
Nov. 9-11 NHK Trophy
Dec. 6-9. GPF

I think this is a more comfortable schedule. He dosen't have to fly around the world. In addition, he has almost one month to rest and adjust before the GPF.

Well. Its just my wish. A fan's wish.

Thanks demarinis5! I think I am one of the addicted ~

Welcome! I agree, this thread is so lovely! :)

Regarding the assignments, if Nathan gets first choice due to winning Worlds, does Yuzuru get the next choice for winning the Olympics? Also, wouldn't NHK want Yuzuru to be there, as well as or instead of Shoma? I'm still new to this, sorry for my questions :3

It has nothing to do with the Olympics. It‘s about Worlds. If Shoma wants NHK he will get it. Yuzuru can also go, whether Shoma is there or not. They only have to invite him.

I don't see the Japan Open on the ISU calendar and am getting nothing when I try to do a search. Is it for 100% sure it's taking place this season? I know it's usually the first Saturday in October.
