Jason Brown

Now that SOI has ended I'll be taking a summer hiatus from the board (although I may come back to comment if Jason announces anything earth shattering).

Oh no! People really do this? Take time off? Have a good summer! You will be missed. :sad4:

But no "if" about it. He has to announce something soon!
And I mentioned in the general thread, I had NO idea that the colored spotlights were supposed to represent Olympic rings. I just knew Jason was yellow, so I kept my eyes open for that

I had no idea about that light, el henry. I always looked for the hat and the shirt.

Well, as I said in the general thread, it took me a month to realize they had different shirts, and I never did figure out the hats. My keen powers of observation failed me:laugh2:

Jason will announce his plans while I am on my cruise and incommunicado, :biggrin:or worse yet from my selfish perspective, go to Philly International this year when I can't go (well, I *could* make the men's SP, if it's still Friday, but only for Jason.....)

But August is way too long to wait:drama:

Oh great, now the Philly Int. Men’s SP is the same night as Trombone Shorty at Musikfest. :angry1:

Well, absent Jason I will miss it this year, but it was a great comp. I am thinking (although I don’t know how logistically they will do it) they will need to institute *some* isolated area for skaters. You literally could not walk the hallway without coming within six feet of a skater, go to the ladies room without seeing skaters, (and by skaters I mean ones I recognized, like Tim D., Max, Alexei, Jordan, Donovan, Starr, Bradie) even just sitting on a bench, who knows, Frank Carroll could ask you to move your stuff so he can sit directly behind you.;););)

Sorry for the OT as we wait for Jason news:biggrin:

I will never understand the heart emojis. Black hearts? Maybe my eyes are seeing the wrong color?

Then again, I don’t understand black bridesmaids dresses either.

He needs to tell us something soon now that SOI is over. Whenever I see that there is something posted in his FF, I keep hoping! Come on Jason! Enough already with the suspense!

It's a pretty cool picture.

I believe the black emoji, from what I see, represents a willingness to expose darkness and vulnerability, so kind of a continuation of his recent YouTube video messaging.

You may be right. Beautiful picture in any case.

It is a beautiful picture.

I had kind of an instinctive reaction to it though, maybe because he’s facing the camera directly, with his eyes hooded. We see him, but we can’t read his expression. Or I should say, I can’t. Resolute? Sulky? Decided? Still deciding? All I know is it’s very different from how we’ve seen him in the past few months: he gave us tons of pictures where he was staring off into the future but with his back to the camera. Then so many light hearted, charming Jason at SOI pix. It makes sense, doesn’t it - no one (except a few crazy fans like me :)) would have expected him to make or announce such an important decision during the tour. So he had time. But if I had to guess, I’d say he’s confronting the fact that the future is now. :drama:

Just an comment that this is at least the second picture Jason has posted that was taken in SLC last week by Aurelia Perk. She may have taken the Hamilton photo as well since his clothing is the same. If you're not familiar with Aurelia, she's a junior skater who I think lives in SLC but trains part of the year in Monument. I saw her skate at Regionals last fall and she did a beautiful program to LLL.

Jason is in Colorado Springs today. Lunchmates (for a casual lunch, AFAIK) at the OTC with Lauren Gibbs (per her Insta story) and Madi Chock.

(Off topic: Madi still in a boot. Using a golf-cart-type-vehicle. [Not the same thing as her scooter.])

I care! Thanks for the information. That competition always gets some amazing skaters. I'm hoping to attend.

:yay: I am thinking of attending again. Very curious to see this year's entry lists.

For me, last year will be hard to top (mostly cuz Max will not be back :sad4:), but I hope that many other skaters whom I like will return.

Continuing OT: My experience is super-limited, but Aston, SLC (Challenger), and Chelsea Piers (Mid-Atlantics) are similar in this regard -- so I get the impression that skaters are accustomed to not being isolated at low-profile comps?

Thanks! Gotta say, I love Jason's laughter in this, and Lauren seems like a very fun person.

Now let's see how long he stays in COS.

I wondering if he's at OTC to get his ankle checked out and to set a game plan. Even though there's a doc on site on SOI, that person wouldn't be able to discuss training regimen and such.

He won't be there any longer than next week since he's going to St. Louis for that Grassroots to Champions seminar with his mom. But it will be interesting if he'll be in COS the whole time or go elsewhere.

More random snippets of information to foment speculation (and for anyone in the Boston area)

Jason will be skating at the "ISI Skating Benefit Show", held on July 27 in Boston, as part of the ISI World Recreational Team Championships.

https://www.skateisi.org/2018-benefit-show/

So, will he be doing jump-less Justin Timberlake? Will he have a competition routine to put out there?

And will he really be going to Harvard and training with Mark Mitchell  (yes, I know he has done shows in Boston back in the day when there was no hint of leaving Kori. But it's either levity or speculation;) )

What it does suggest is that he won’t be doing Glacier Falls this year - the dates for that are July 25-29. On the other hand, it suggests he might possibly do the Philadelphia Summer Championships - dates are July 30-August 5.

It does suggest a change, and that change could be training with someone in the east.

Wow, no Jason at Glacier Falls..... these are new times indeed;)

How do things work when you switch coaches? Does the new coach typically want to work with you for a period of time before doing competitions?
