And can Jeff lay down some guideline PLEASE! At least say no choking or cracking someone under the jaw. This guy just lets things get out of control. Sorry but Jeff is just getting to be a twerp to me. Come on, at least say something like "no scratching, biting or below the belt." He is making mne mad= that he does not use his authority for ANYTHING. Never lays it down, just sets people up for looking bad on TV. I think he has issues.
Probst, by several accounts, is a bit of jackass. My cousin works as a management trainer for a corporation in Oregon, and shortly before the first Survivor took place, they hired Jeff to do one of their corporate training films, and apparently he was quite difficult to work with, demanded more money, and ended up not doing the thing anyway because Survivor came along. And a friend of mine saw him on a talk show several months ago and couldn't believe how much of a jerk he came of as. And I notice that as the editions pile up, he seems to be getting snippier and snippier.
Now, as to last night's episode -- definitely one of the most entertaining Survivor episodes I've seen since probably Pearl Islands. First of all -- Cao Boi and the "and the goddesses came down from the clouds of their mystical realm with credit card applications" and "the Queen" tangent at Tribal Council (the latter embellished with Jonathan's PRICELESS facial expressions) -- absolute hoot. Plus Nate's expressions re. the food.
As to the challenge -- at first I thought it was going to be the worst one ever, but once they started dragging each other around, I have to say -- BEST. REWARD. CHALLENGE. EVER. (And I'm sure the guys were particularly thrilled by -- I'm trying to put this delicately -- attractive young ladies simulating a knock down drag out catfight). What I don't understand, tho, was why was Cristina being one of the ones pulled as opposed to one of the pullers? As a cop, I would think she would have much more experience in something of this nature than most people. What I was hoping was (and I know Dee will agree with me on this) that Cristina would end up being the one kidnapped; strategically, I think it would have made the most sense. I think it was pretty obvious, just from tribal council alone, without knowing anything else going on, that they were pretty much going to rid of Cristina; had they kidnapped her, it would have forced them to have to change their strategy at the last minute, vote someone else off, and throw them for a rather unnerving loop, at least to my way of thinking. Keep 'em on their toes, y'know? As far as Cao Boi being voted off -- well, not only was it not surprising, it was also, when you think about it, a fair thing to do from one perspective. Cao Boi, after all, sat out the challenge that they won; Had Jonathan been voted out, he would have left, THEN they would have gotten to eat, and Jonathan, who helped actually contribute to the win, would not have been allowed to partake in the reward -- so it's more appropriate that Cao Boi go just from that angle.
And, lastly, something I've always wondered, but more and more since Ozzy is just a fish-catching MACHINE: Do they have some sort of expert on staff on this show to make sure that the fish they catch or the plants they gather aren't poisonous?? Some of those fish look pretty exotic, and in that part of the world, who KNOWS what's poisonous? Do they have someone around to make sure that they're not about to eat something that's gonna take out the whole tribe?
