New Survivor Show

I was wondering about Jeff's voice overs. I missed that, we must have been talking.

Should be interesting, when and if she gets voted out, how many different ways the others are going to totally mangle her name on the ballot....

Something really lousy about this last show is that they looked for people rather than the auditioned. That is not cool IMO.

Tonight was quite surprising in the "kidnap" realm. But it seemed that there was no winner of the immunity. And can Jeff lay down some guideline PLEASE! At least say no choking or cracking someone under the jaw. This guy just lets things get out of control. Sorry but Jeff is just getting to be a twerp to me. Come on, at least say something like "no scratching, biting or below the belt." He is making mne mad= that he does not use his authority for ANYTHING. Never lays it down, just sets people up for looking bad on TV. I think he has issues.

Is it funny to anyone but me that NO ONE spelled Cao Boi's name correctly?
Maybe that is why Parvanti is still there. I was thinking that they might have the names posted under the camera in the voting "booth" but tonight confirmed they don't.

OADN, Jess seems to be "nice" for the fact that she didn't just knock out Cat was a sign to me she was a good girl. Yet how tough are you if you can't get that bean pole off the pole quicker??? And if some one was pulling her hair like that I would expect a "can of woopass" to get opened. I like her more now that I see she has composure. Good girl but a tough chick, I like it! Reminds me ...never mind.

Probst, by several accounts, is a bit of jackass. My cousin works as a management trainer for a corporation in Oregon, and shortly before the first Survivor took place, they hired Jeff to do one of their corporate training films, and apparently he was quite difficult to work with, demanded more money, and ended up not doing the thing anyway because Survivor came along. And a friend of mine saw him on a talk show several months ago and couldn't believe how much of a jerk he came of as. And I notice that as the editions pile up, he seems to be getting snippier and snippier.

Now, as to last night's episode -- definitely one of the most entertaining Survivor episodes I've seen since probably Pearl Islands. First of all -- Cao Boi and the "and the goddesses came down from the clouds of their mystical realm with credit card applications" and "the Queen" tangent at Tribal Council (the latter embellished with Jonathan's PRICELESS facial expressions) -- absolute hoot. Plus Nate's expressions re. the food.

As to the challenge -- at first I thought it was going to be the worst one ever, but once they started dragging each other around, I have to say -- BEST. REWARD. CHALLENGE. EVER. (And I'm sure the guys were particularly thrilled by -- I'm trying to put this delicately -- attractive young ladies simulating a knock down drag out catfight). What I don't understand, tho, was why was Cristina being one of the ones pulled as opposed to one of the pullers? As a cop, I would think she would have much more experience in something of this nature than most people. What I was hoping was (and I know Dee will agree with me on this) that Cristina would end up being the one kidnapped; strategically, I think it would have made the most sense. I think it was pretty obvious, just from tribal council alone, without knowing anything else going on, that they were pretty much going to rid of Cristina; had they kidnapped her, it would have forced them to have to change their strategy at the last minute, vote someone else off, and throw them for a rather unnerving loop, at least to my way of thinking. Keep 'em on their toes, y'know? As far as Cao Boi being voted off -- well, not only was it not surprising, it was also, when you think about it, a fair thing to do from one perspective. Cao Boi, after all, sat out the challenge that they won; Had Jonathan been voted out, he would have left, THEN they would have gotten to eat, and Jonathan, who helped actually contribute to the win, would not have been allowed to partake in the reward -- so it's more appropriate that Cao Boi go just from that angle.

And, lastly, something I've always wondered, but more and more since Ozzy is just a fish-catching MACHINE: Do they have some sort of expert on staff on this show to make sure that the fish they catch or the plants they gather aren't poisonous?? Some of those fish look pretty exotic, and in that part of the world, who KNOWS what's poisonous? Do they have someone around to make sure that they're not about to eat something that's gonna take out the whole tribe?

Interesting info about Jeffy. Doesn't surprise me. But I am surprised that some one doesn't say something to him or question the rules more. Jeff is not voting so I would openly tell him to shut up sometimes or question the guidelines of something like that prior to the challenge starting.

I agree with the challenge being one of the most interesting. And yes to watch as well I admit.:ohwell: Not pretty but interesting to say the least. Getting to be a big fan of Ozzy and loosing some interest in Nate. I hope Parvanti gets voted off just so I stop liking her more - I am such a freak'n sap.:banging:

Chris (i.e the one I called Cat last night, oops) I feel was in the right spot for the challenge. I think cops are better at tazering unwilling suspects then fighting with them. Also not dragging but keeping motionless while hand cuffing. And she was likely the strongest girl and had some experience seeing how criminals fight of restraint.

I don't know about the poisons aspects but I would imagine there is some knowledge by the players of types of fish and plants prior - they study up before they go - and willfully allowing someone to ingest poison is likely against any "law" regardless of the "wavers." You could never allow someone to kill themselves. I would hope. I was worrying that an Octopus was going to beak someone.

I think getting Nate over there will create some paranoia to the tribe about Nate for when he comes back. That I believe is a good strategy. I do not like how no one was a castaway though.

Coa Boi's thought was interesting but not only made him a target for being a control freak (they don't last long no matter how conniving) but also had to make him seem like a freaky "mystical wizard" and playing the game based on his "crystal ball visions" making him to flaky and manipulative to keep around. "Cao Boi is on our side but who knows what dream he will have tonight." Plus he was purely relying on the fact everyone would do what he said was just too risky to be sound.

To channel a little Fleetwood Mac:

Now here I go again I see
a crystal vision
I keep my visions to myself....

Which is apparently what Cao Boi should have done, tho he was probably outa there anyway without having a dream about Vishnu coming down from the topaz mountain with MasterCard applications.......

From what I've heard about Probst, I wouldn't be overall surprised if he has it written into his contract that "thou shalt not flick the Jeffster any ****". As far as being clear about the rules is concerned -- some of those challenges they've had the last few editions are so convoluted ("OK, run over there and then do that and then while doing this other thing do that and go into the water and retrieve that and then bring that over there and do this") that if I were on that show, I'd probably get thrown off just for having to ask him to repeat the steps about 20 times so I could figure out what on earth I'm supposed to be doing. (Granted, I have the attention span of a hummingbird, but they're still pretty complicated at times.) [The challenges, not the hummingbird]

I just hope they don't have any of those giant stringrays in those waters. One of them got this guy a few days ago the same way that one got Steve Irwin.

I have a feeling that Jeff did say no choking and no hitting - it was just cut out during editing. Also, keep in mind that he's not a wrestling/boxing referree that's standing right next to the combatants - he's several feet away watching 2 different battles. It would be easy for him to lose track of what team is doing while watching another.

As for him personally, I've never met the guy. Is he still with Julie who was a contestant on a former Survivor? He called her the love of his life.

No comments about Candance and younger white guy winking and blowing kisses at each other? I'm wondering if any of the other tribe members noticed. If I recall, they were all snuggly before.

Didn't pay much attention last night but I did hear Jeff say no choking.
Reason no one went to Exile Island was probably due that they both voted someone out.

I did not hear no choking, I might be wrong but I did not hear it. Also if there was that rule and choking did occur, Jeff said "take it easy" when it happened and he watched / saw yet nothing as far as "a rule was just broken consequence" happened. What is the point of a rule then? Still weakened and frightened the victim so to speak. And why did it happen if it was stated not to? And if no choking was said I am sure no hair pulling would have as well. So I do not believe it was said.

I know he said something regarding remembering that it is a game and people should be some what under control. The realization that they could eventually be on the same tribe as you when it comes to one should be omnipresent. I think there might have been something said to the degree of this off camera is likely but did not indicate it's importance by saying it off camera. It is rather moot but I only feel it could have been addressed more appropriately then it was.

I understood why no castaway but instead of Nate being kidnaped the "winning" could have chosen who goes. Just a preference, still moot. And it is interesting. I still like watching and enjoyed the show.

Jeff just gives me a bad vibe, I have heard both opinions about him, just the way I feel. As far as his lady, who knows if that says anything. Maybe he is completely different when he is not "working" but I see him at work and the personification he has on screen is a control freak with a chip on his shoulder. But there again, that is just my thought, not trying to say he is a horrible person or anything, I just don't over all like his personality I am familiar with. I still think he has the one aspect I do like about him A LOT - he was part of creating the show. That I do like about him.

I seem to recall reading that Jeff and his wife broke up. As far as the "no choking" is concerned, I didn't hear it either at the outset (then again, I was distracted by the convoluted instructions), BUT when he said it later during the challenge, the implication I got, based on the tone of his voice, was that he had in fact said it at the outset, so it probably did get edited out.

Jeff & his wife divorced in 2001. However, he hooked up with Julie who was one of the contestants of Survivor in 2005. She's much younger than him.

Maybe that is why Parvanti is still there. I was thinking that they might have the names posted under the camera in the voting "booth" but tonight confirmed they don't.

Except they don't have the advantage of seeing the names spelled out the way viewers do. You think it's just part of normal conversation during the "getting to know you process" to ask how one's name is spelled? Somehow I doubt it. So I can easily understand how people spelled it Cow Boy - because that's exactly how it sounds.

Call me dense -- and many do  -- but I had seen Cao Boi's name in print several times in articles about this edition before the show even started, but it wasn't until the show actually DID start that I realized how it was actually pronounced..... Talk about a DUH....

As for Purvanti, though -- in THAT particular case, me personally, if she'd come up and said "Hi, my name's Purvanti", after asking her to repeat that a couple of times, I would have ended up saying, "How do you SPELL that?" But that's just me. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing the spelling attempts of the other tribe members on that one.

:agree: I agree, that would not be normal for most, ˆspose that is why I was thinking they might post the names at the voting area. I do however get asked about the spelling of my name likely because of the Shauns and the like, but if someone said my name is cowboy, I would ask "your parents named you C - o - w - b - o - y?" And at that point get corrected. Also I do usually ask a person how they spell their name if I am or intend to write it down. These days you never know.

Reminds me of the scene in LA Story.

I just have to say how distraught I am about Jessica being voted off. And for the first time (I don't know why I missed it) I FINALLY heard her called Flicka. She really seemed to like Ozzy.

Ozzy is a great personality and player, I hope he has not become to great of a target. I think their philosophy that he is going to be a threat in the final - one tribe - is not to well founded. Physically great and brings in food, but no greater threat when it comes to puzzles etc... Also they are going to need a food catcher. I think they should be playing to aline with him for going to the rewards if he wins them. Pravanty (sp) seems to have a good opportunity to play a "Amber" if she and Ozzy can keep it quite. But does she have the ability to sway the votes away from him in the mean time.

My money is still on Yul. I think he's running the show. Plus, he's got the idol.

Well, all those folks who were looking for a "social experiment" focusing on race, they got it tonight.

First Jonathan comes right out and says that his strategy is to take four Caucasians to the final four.

When he sees the last white person move out of his neighborhood, he literally trips over himself getting out, too.

In the new tribe the four white people, well, they may not like each other, but they're white. They let the two black folks be white just long enough to drive off the Asian guy. Yeah, they're white, just like the black nanny's in the south were "part of the family."

Art imitates life.

I am surprised they didn't get rid of Johnathon or Candice after all they jumped ship abandoning their trib. I hope theres a big shake up next week, not ready for them to merge but maybe realine the tribes.

Suddenly Jonathan had "confidence" to remark to Jeff. I was acutely glad to see it. The move to keep Jonathan around was intelligent because he is working for the tribe and can easily be "used."

I thought it was interesting how Nate said to the idea of having a leader, " we don't have that over here." Isn't that a comment a leader would say?

Brad seemed really honest about the experience. But the context of what he did last week was so .... what "spacial boy?" That made sense to let him go and get a feel for the new tribe. It seems like most alliances are obvious at this point.

I think Ozzy and Becky are my new faves. Good twist in the "rules De Jour." Particularly liked the Jury twist!
