Evgenia Medvedeva

You hit the nail in the head there. I'm a relatively new fan and I don't mind the miming in the slightest, although I also like her non-miming programs like Kukushka.

I think her miming never bothered me because she sells it so well, and because the music they chose for her was never cheesy. At the same time, I am excited to see what she can do with a different style of choreography!

When I read comments about her miming (Averbukh's really, I suppose), most of the criticism seems to come from people who have followed skating for awhile and don't feel that miming and melodrama are a part of the sport. They find it over the top and unpalatable. I even had this conversation with a full-on Zhenya stan this morning after the show. She wishes that Zhenya would drop the miming and be more subtle like other skaters, but I love the miming and the way it sets her apart. Another person in the chat, one who, like me, became interested in skating after seeing Zhenya in the Olympics, agreed with me, and I have seen this on the FS sub-another site, too. Fans with more tenure in the sport tend to like the miming less than brand new fans who have just seen her for the first time. Of course, there are new fans who don't like it and old fans who do, but as a general rule, it seems to me that those who have not paid enough attention to figure skating to know what it's "supposed" to look like are far more impressed with her miming than those who formed opinions about the sport before having seen her perform.

Why should she? Sure, subtlety is great, but the way she tells stories really sets her apart from the other skaters. I can understand that some people doesn't like it, but as long as not a lot of skaters use mimings in their program, let Zhenya skates as she wants
Besides it's a good thing for FS in general, because it adds diversity and can attract new viewers to the sport (I wasn't interested at all about FS before the Olympics and didn't watch it until I saw the ladies group 4 by chance, then I watched her AK program and here I am  )

The cricket club has it's own plushy trio now! Ah this news made me more happy than I can explain, this is the best off-season ever

I have been busy for last days, but so happy to see Zhenya's new EX, very touching and emotional skating from her! You go girl!:hap10:

News about Boyang is great too. They have a fantasist mix of talents in TCC which will help all skaters to progress and develop!

P.S. Officially the craziest off-season for years!

If she was at a random rink she’s probably training or something! How nice!

I agree on the looking fuller part - first of all, she doesn’t really look fuller, and secondly, I just noticed that some random dude has posted a really mean comment about it on her latest Instagram picture - ofc Zhenya being the gutsy girl that she is replied to him and shut him up with her usual irony. Gotta love her!

I agree 100%, and my story is similar to yours. I always cheer for my country in the Olympics, but I haven't really cared about an American skater since Sasha Cohen, and I wasn't very invested in her. Katarina Witt was my favorite until Zhenya, but I never watched skating outside of the Olympics until I saw her skate her SP in the team program. I was stunned. :jaw: I finished watching it on the edge of the couch with my mouth hanging open, and I've heard the same thing from maybe a dozen people on this forum and another site since then. She turned a lot of people onto figure skating with those breathtaking Olympic performances, and now, I appreciate skating in general much better than I ever have before. I like several skaters now, but none of them near as much as I like her. I don't think there's ever been anyone like her.

What happen? What did that guy said?

Someone asked Aljona Kostornaya to choose between Medvedeva or Zagitova. Guess what she replied :cool14:

If she replied Medvedeva that‘s clearly hilarious imo😂😂 I don’t understand Russian though, sooo... did she?

But yeah, Zhenya‘s their role model, has been all the time. Even Alina said it during OG. But I figured with Zhenya leaving and everything, I don‘t know, I thought it might change.

There were dozens "X or Y" questions, and she didn't mind answering them, including:

"Medvedeva or Zagitova?"
"Zhenya."
...
"Polya or Zhenya?"
"Polya."
