2018-2019 GP Assignments

Does anyone know when and where one can buy tickets for the Finnland Trophy in Helsiniki for November 2.-4.? I cannot find any information online
that's because you can't buy them right now

the only info we have is that sales will be starting in August, but there's not even a concrete date or anything, you'll just have to wait

Beware with the names: the Finlandia Trophy is another event entirely than the as-of-yet-without-official-name Grand Prix (and tickets are available for the Finlandia trophy).

Does anyone know how much the tickets for the GP in Helsinki are gonna cost? I'm trying to finally go to my first competition but I'm unsure if I'll be able to afford it... Any help is greatly appreciated <3

Hey, I have the same thoughts but I am actually more concerned if we will manage to get any tickets at all - because of Yuzuru Hanyu's participation I could imagine a wave of Japanese fans buying all the tickets within an hour after the ticket release... And this ice hall doesn't look like the hugest ice stadium.

I think they will announce soon the prices of the tickets, I am sure they will publish the seat categories in advance and they have time till August for that.

Hopefully we will buy tickets at a reasonable price! And I will see Alina, Loena, Yuzuru... <3

Mm, it's still the third-largest ice stadium in Finland, which is pretty good considering the lack of preparation time(Couldn't get Hartwall, I imagine). The capacity is 8200.

Japanese tourists seem to love visiting Finland in general so, yes, I do expect quite an influx of the Japanese for this. But I guess it'll be fine if one reserves the tickets as early as possible.

And I suppose most Yuzu fans will prefer Finland to Russia because for Russia a visa is needed and that makes trip planning more difficult...?
Anyways, it will be an interesting competition and to go there and watch it live, will be totally worth it.

Don't count on that. All the Moscow hotels anywhere near the arena were booked less than 24 hours post the announcement. I still think it will be doable just don't wait too long.

Chinese fans prefer Russia because it's very close. So... :slink:

And obviously, the same holds true for Russian fans - and Yuzu has quite a lot of them too.

I doubt getting tickets will be easy if you wait for too long, but it definitely helps that Yuzu is in 2 events so close to each other.

Do we know what Stadium its going to be at? Maybe I'm overplanning but I'm trying to figure out where to stay (don't really know Helsinki that well)

Helsingin jäähalli(Helsinki Ice Hall).

It might be a good idea to try to be fast, I checked some of the hotels next to it and a couple have been sold out for that weekend and several others had like 3x the normal prices for that weekend and just a few rooms left.

Apparently Mauricio Zandron is switching countries to Austria, so he will have to sacrifice his GP assignment at Rostelecom. Wonder if they will try to go even further down the list to find a replacement.

Interesting.. but I wonder why the hurry?? ITA has 2 Euros spots and with Righini seemingly out Zandron was kinda asured of one and it's not every year that someone of his level manages to sneak in to the GP elite. Oh well, I guess his plans are really long term. Good luck to him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but feds can't pick below #75 on the SB list unless they are making a host pick, right? Rostelecom already has 3 Russian men, and Zandron is already #67 on the SB list, so they'll probably go upwards, but I'd love to see Carrillo (#71) get his first GP assignment!

The initial picks can go down to 75, but I believe the replacement list is supposed to be the top 10 skaters without 2 spots. Sometimes they bend that rule, but normally when the event is close and they need to go with someone close by. So I don't believe Carrillo is an option for them.

Does that mean the next 10 skaters on the SB list, regardless of whether he has 1 assignment or not? Or does that mean the top 10 skaters with 1 assignments ranked by SB?
