It worked great for Javi too. Before Yuzuru moved to TCC, Javier was a mind case... the same 2012 where Yuzuru earned bronze in Worlds, Javier bombed both LPs in Euros and Worlds. Having Yuzuru around helped Javier to learn to manage the pressure. Also there is an interview where Tracy talks about how relaxed Javier used to be about training before Yuzuru arrival and how having someone like Yuzuru pushed Javier to improve and taking the training more serious.

Javi definitely and seriously moved up once he got a taste of Yuzu's work ethic - they pretty much shared the top awards for several years there. I would hazard a guess that he is pretty grateful that he said "yes" to Brian all those years ago, his butter came back well and truly buttered with amazing scores (the second to reach 200+ in the free and 300+ overall if I recall correctly?) and 2 worlds on top and over Yuzuru. There's a lovely bit in Yuzu's interviews on Kenji no Heya (can't recall where I got the subbed version, but I did save it because it's quite fascinating, from several years ago when he was twenty) where Yuzu says that when one of them was having a bad day, it was the other rather than the coaches etc who was able to say the right words and bolster them. It wouldn't work for everyone, it quite possibly wouldn't work for anyone else with one of them, it possibly wouldn't work now for Yuzu at his level (it had its bumps in the Olympic runup but Javi obviously knew pretty exactly how bad it was for Yuzu). We don't know, just as we don't know what is actually said and done at TCC.

What ifs are a fairly futile mind game (for all we all play it, you should hear my English rellies on the World Cup and the Ashes!!!) but even as fairly-newbie as I am, I do think they both reached higher and further because they had each other to challenge as well as the individual attention the TCC could give them. When you think about it, maybe but maybe Shoma's the one who should regret that Javi said yes...

Basically it’s champagne! You can’t offically call it that unless it's from the region in France. So sparkling wine is the term used in N. America.

The label is different, but I think it’s this one: http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/patrick-chan-sparkling-blanc-de-blancs-2011/546291#.W0fskHBlCEc

I am a bubbly fan. Who wants to buy me one?

well since we moved from bagged milk to alky... i may clarify this for you

Champagne is not just a region but also a method to acquire the bubbles.

Champagne method : the bubbles are acquired by further fermenting in the bottle itself...which is why it is more expensive : in other regions than Champagne, you can still find that method but will pay less and it will bear another name like Spanish Cava or crement de bourgogne for a champagne style made in Burgundy..

Prosecco or Italian sparkler : the fermentation is done in steel barrels.. much cheaper to produce

and then, there is a third method which consist in adding carbon dioxide to the wine... which is the cheapest way to have a sparkling wine.

So it's not only region, it's the method, and of course, the type of grape varies.

Patrick's wine is a blanc de blancs which means that it's a white wine, produced with white grape.. like in the the Champagne region, Patrick's wine is made with Chardonnay grape. They mention autolysis in the description which means that the fermentation occurs with the wine laying on the lees... the only thing I don't know is if it's done in the bottle or in barrels.

so here you are... from milked bag to sparkling

I remember when I first started watching skating, people used to talk about Javi’s skating skills as lacking - a frequent comment was that his drunken sailor program was brilliant because it hid his weaknesses in that area. I think he’s made a lot of progress with that over the years, and some of his jumps are really beautiful. All this to say, I think training at TCC-where discipline was instilled in him-and training with Yuzuru, was probably really good for him.

Being the Jason fan I am, I have to admit I really wonder how training at TCC will impact him. In some interview about Evgenia, Brian talked about how they try to teach skaters to take responsibility for their careers. I think that’s something that Jason, too, needs to learn. He’s intrinsically motivated, but I still think the atmosphere there could help him with more than just quads.

Everyone pointed out that Yuzuru clearly benefitted from training with Javi... But that is exactly the thing. It worked out great for Yuzuru, for Javi not so much. I can't see Yuzuru happily settling for Olympic bronze no matter how much he enjoys training with, say, Boyang.

Brian, Tracy, not to say Yuzuru and Javier themselves have stated in numerous occassion that they are benefiting each other by training together. I cannot even understand what you are trying to say about Yuzuru happily settling for Olympic bronze (not gonna happened, period) so I would not comment on that.

how come they let these things published???
“I don’t think he is going to the Cricket Club,” a veteran skating source told The Japan Times.
And
“Something changed. Not sure exactly what it was,” said the source, who requested anonymity.
 like are they a tabloid? Oh yes they are...
“He never turned up at the Cricket Club and is not expected to,” the source stated.

Looked like a whole lot of speculation to me. "A nameless source"... Yeah, ok. "Something", "Don't think", "Expected"...

There was no information at all there, some anonymous person just was making his/her conclusions based on publicly available information. What a pointless article.

He really might not be going, but unless there's an article with a real named source, or one of the three parties announces it themselves, meh.

May be this being in main media will push them into issuing some official statement. I believe Jin will not be joining TCC. Even if there may be a statement from the Chinese side, the real reason may not be known. I do not think Brian will say anything before the Chinese side makes any announcement.

I can't see the Chinese federation making any kind of official statement if they haven't got a visa in place for Boyang to come to Canada...

That would be presuming things and not respecting the authority of another government...

How hard can it be to get a visa? Evgenia figure it out really fast, and in the midtime Boyang could have got in with his regular visa and just exit the country every few months like Javi did.

I believe it harder to get a visa depending on your location.

It’s also good to note that a lot more visa have been getting denied lately. It uses to be like 10% and in 2017 it shot up to 25%.

But Boyang already has a visa to Canada, he was in there for a month, so he goes and exit the country every 3 months (not that hard he just cruise American border) and then comeback. Javier did this.

The visa excuse is not reasonable.

Uhm, this is a long thread...[emoji12]

I and other posters have noted that getting a visa from China to Canada, especially for a long term situation is notoriously long.

Three weeks is the minimum for a visa from China.

It's been a national news story in Canada off and on since the 1990s.

In 2015, Canada and China came to a special agreement to set up visa offices for Chinese coming to Canada in other major Chinese centres.

However, Harbin where Boyang is from is part of the area that is still served by consular services at the Canadian Embassy In Beijing...

So, I would be surprised if he has a visa before another couple of weeks.

Can’t see the Visa would be such a big problem, isn’t a Chinese ice dance pair already in Montreal? Some youngsters are with Raf in US.

I don’t see any one not respecting the authority here, the rumours stem from China anyway, which I think fans just want to know the truth and means no disrespect. Moreover, we do not know if the problem really is from the authority. The article is not well written, but then if everyone just quietly wait for announcements from the authority, then we really do not need the media.
