Jason Brown

I will do that! I've been enjoying reading the posts on this board. Thank you for your welcome!

Hello Bookseller; I think we may already be acquainted, as in like meeting IRL as the kids say (if the sad news that the restaurant Grain was closed down last week means anything to you, we are;) )

And the ISI show, and if I’m not mistaken, Skate Canada as well. You really are getting your Jason on this fall

Welcome to GS and the Jason fan fest :agree:

I am very sad that Grain closed. Whatever happened? It was quite busy when we were there. Yes, Missing and I are off to Massachusetts tomorrow for the ISI show. She is determined to get a good photo of me and Jason. And yes, Skate Canada as well. Very excited that Jason and Zhenya are skating SCI!

I've been lurking for a while. I like it here.

Bookseller and Jeanie19, hope you have a great time tomorrow!

Ditto from me! Welcome! :dance3:

After Zheniya sent out her program info yesterday, anyone have a teeny bit of hope that Jason might do the same?

The thought crossed my mind as well since they worked with David at about the same time on their programs. However, this summer has been a such new experience for Jason (and for all of us fans) that it's been difficult to predict anything.

Wait, Jason's skating in Massachusetts tomorrow?? I might have missed this entirely, can anyone tell me where?

(I live in Boston, so this is very relevant to me. Alas, I have after work plans so probably won't get to see this but I figure if there's any chance I'd love to try and see him)

Not to derail too much, but yes, Grain was busy that night, so I don’t get it. Word is it was too upscale for downtown Allentown:scratch2:oh well, SOI probably won’t be back here anyway.

I hope @Missing gets that photo, and that Jason miraculously debuts his new free and someone has a professional quality fancam. I don’t want much:laugh:

charmblade! Nice to see you posting. :) I hope you're well.

Kinda out of the way if you're trying to get there right after work....but I hope you can make it work somehow!

I will absolutely not be surprised if we see Hamilton/DEH/Can't Stop the Feeling. But it WOULD be awesome to see something new. I'd be cool with a new exhibition, even. :D

Mrs P has a good memory for programs! :agree:

I did have some help! This thread is more than 5 years old. It was one of the early Fan Fest threads. Lots of history in here, lol.

My sense is we might have to wait until he competes to find out about the new FS (or if we’re lucky maybe someone at Champs Camp will tell TSL :drama:).

Hopefully if I’m suitably pessimistic, he will announce tonight and prove me wrong. :)

So excited for the season to start! It sounds like members of the Jason FF will be at ACI (me, Haleth) (fingers crossed) and Skate Canada (Haleth, Bookseller, and ???), so we just need someone to go to TdeF (TMC? me if I can afford it?). If he goes to Finlandia instead of ACI, I’m pretty sure we can count on TMC to be there, but if it’s SLC or somewhere else....well, we’ll just have to see! :)

Our friend @MGStyle is going to "whatever-de-France". She might even have tickets to sell. If I had a transporter I'd buy them:laugh:

Not expecting a new program, but would be delighted to be wrong. His Throwback Thursday post is on the Alice in Wonderland Statue in Central Park in the Spring. A clue? And he posted a notice about tomorrow's show. I assume that they still have tickets to sell at the door. It's open seating. It will be fun!

I did have some help! This thread is more than 5 years old. It was one of the early Fan Fest threads. Lots of history in here, lol.

It is in Marlborough, MA. It starts at 7 pm tomorrow night.

Thank you both for the update! Unfortunately Marlborough is a little too far for me to get to after work, especially since I'm supposed to be at a party meeting my husband's new coworkers instead. I'm sure everyone who is able to go will have a wonderful experience seeing Jason skate no matter what program he does (but obviously fingers crossed for a sneak peak of something new!)

And Mrs. P, I've been lurking a lot during offseason but real life has consumed me a bit lately and I haven't felt compelled to post much. Life is good but busy!

Ha, it never occurred to me that might be a hint. I'd be kinda disappointed though if that's the music though, cause I think David Wilson choreographed Shawn Sawyer's program to Alice in Wonderland. It's been 7 years, but that is seriously one of my fave programs, and it will be tough for me not to compare (especially since Shawn and Jason have a lot of similar characteristics, such as amazing spin and tons of flexibility).

On the other hand, there's a lot of music in that soundtrack, so it wouldn't necessarily be the same... And it's been a while since we've seen a movie score program from Jason. I believe his 2011-2012 FS to Flow Like Water/The Last Airbender might have been the last? -- And yes, Writing on the Wall was the theme song from Spectre, but it's not a movie score. Remember back in the 2013-2014 season, they had looked at having him skate to something from Pearl Harbor but then ended up doing Riverdance?

And of course, there's the original Alice in Wonderland music, but I really doubt it would be that.

And maybe he just wanted to post a photo of himself at the statue.

charmblade -- I totally get how life gets busy... I'm glad to have seen you for those 15 minutes in Nashville last year! I hope our paths cross again sometime soon. :)

A clue - great thought!

If you google “Lost in Wonderland” there are a huge number of results - including a recent Barbra Streisand song (samba-ish, but please no!) and a documentary film about a brilliant, straight but cross-dressing NZ lawyer. :)

But I kinda like this, from the 2010 film Alice in Wonderland, by Danny Elfman:

It’s not even close to pure classical but I could see it possibly being very effective in a dramatic, T&I kind of way.

Or there’s always David Del Tredici’s Final Alice, but beautiful asit is, I somehow think it’s unlikely - here’s a brief excerpt:

Your turn!

ETA Mrs P and I are thinking along the same lines!

Here is Shawn Sawyer's FS for reference.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0FVV2dh_Tc

His best performance of it is from 2011 Canadian Nationals, but I have yet to find a video of that one.

Also worth watching is Shawn's Amadeus FS from the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons, which helped him earn a silver medal at Skate America that season. Incidentally, this program was also choreographed by David Wilson

Honestly, if David Wilson want to give Shawn Sawyer-style programs for Jason, I would not mind. Just not the same one for Alice in Wonderland if that is indeed what he's skating to!

PS, el henry, Shawn Sawyer said Toller was his mentor. See this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30GLLkP5N8E

(Incidentally there was a thread about him a few months ago where this link came from...surprised I didn't see it (https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?72430-The-Amazing-Shawn-Sawyer)

What, nobody thought of Neil Sedaka's song? Honestly that's the first Alice that popped into my head.

Thanks for the Shawn Sawyer mentions. He was skating during the years I was taking a break so I'm not familiar with him. Definitely a lot of similarities to Jason in style. Can't say that I'm in love with that particular Alice song, though. It reminds me a bit of Inner Love and I'd like for Jason to go in a completely different direction from that.

^ I don't think the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack is that similar to Inner Love. It's more bombastic and epic to me. Also unlike Inner Love I think there's more of a storyline to cling on to, i.e. getting lost in a fantasy land. But YMMV. :)

Also, again, Jason might just wanted to post that photo for fun. Also, it's one of the few photos where he isn't wearing a hat! It's interesting to see how light his hair is in that particular photo.

I had just started watching again as Shawn was in his last two seasons. His 2011 Canadians FS is probably one of my most favorite moments as a fan and I'm  the video isn't around anywhere!

Ha - I just watched that Skate America clip before I saw your post - Sean is pretty amazing! It’s interesting to see that he and Jason have similarities but also differences. I think he’s actually even more flexible than Jason - that spiral and that one handed spin are awe inspiring! I do like the choreo except that some of the arm movements he gives him are a little bit too windmill-y or flailing. On the other hand, I really like how he incorporates the jumps pretty seamlessly into the program. So yeah I think a program like this could be interesting for Jason if he just leaves a little room for that natural elegance that Jason has. Fingers crossed!

Jason Brown, Maia & Alex Shibutani and Kana Muramoto/Chris Reed have been added as guest performers to the Carnival on Ice (providing Google translated the tweet properly):

Guests of Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani in the Japan Open, the carnival on Ice, Jason Brown, village Motoya & Chris Reed has decided to perform! http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/japanopen2018/

...

If Jason were to do an Alice in Wonderland themed FS, I'd find it more interesting if he used White Rabbitt by Jefferson Airplane/Starship. ;)

Oooh!

Well that gig essentially means he won’t be doing Finlandia since it’s the same weekend. This is a good gig though! He gets to perform in Japan but not at NHK Trophy lol.

Kinda interesting that he’s doing a show essencially in the early competition season. But hey changes.
