I want to like it, because it's fun, but I can't escape the gulf between the lyrics and the interpretation. I find myself wishing he avoided a cover with the lyrics because with the words before me, his interpretation feels far too lighthearted for a song expressing spiritual disappointment with the world. An energetic, virtuosic guitar melody does not automatically mean light-hearted, fun times. The electric guitar (literally) is not a one-note instrument emotionally, any more than a piano, violin, sitar, or qanun are. I hope that he sits down and thinks about even just the title, or that Lori does and suggests he think about that. I think he can do that and show that he's more able to handle music with more complicated emotions now.
