Alena Kostornaia

Yes, you got it. There was a gun pointed at Alyona's head during interview. "C'mon girl, speak about your happiness"

We made those jokes throughout the season, I didn't know somebody would take it seriously

By the way, I consider Alyona the first who would openly speak about her dislike for something. Last season, just around JWC she said something like "I'm bored of my programs already, I'm looking forward for the new ones."

Yeah, no difference between that and saying now "I don't like my programs", none at all

And the upper part... geez. She was asked if she likes her new programs, she said yes - and all I'm saying is that even if she didn't like them, it's unlikely she would have stated that openly (for different, IMO pretty understandable reasons) - and no, this doesn't just go for Eteri skaters, or only girls, or whatever either. I'm not saying she doesn't like them, I'm not saying I know what she thinks, none of that. But I guess actually reading what another person means is too troublesome.

What is pretty sad is if the only thing you can think of in terms of judging a program is "quads & 3A and more transitions". There is a lot more that belongs in that category - a general concept of what is being portrayed, music that shows different highs & lows and conveys an array of emotions/moods and fitting movements (ideally a bit varied throughout the program) that portray that music, create memoreable highlights, all that yadda yadda. But I guess we all have our own standards

I'm not saying she doesn't like them, I'm not saying I know what she thinks, none of that.
Actually, you did say it.
You tried to put your words in her mouth. Several times.
And you claimed that she was lying. Now you're just trying to retract it.
nice. :sarcasm:

What can be added is 3A, if she will be able to jump it reliably, maybe even some quad? :

We have nothing to talk about if you think good programs are somehow defined by a 3A and a quad. Goodness. :palmf:

And nobody mentioned a plot, what plot? Please do not put words into my mouth. Daniil didn't do well enough this time around, as far as I am concerned, when it comes to Kostornaya's programs. It's really not that difficult to grasp.

I think people are complaining because the choreo doesn't really have moments that are memorable or stand out. Which is a shame because she is probably the most talented, lyrical skater out there. Heck if David W. were to give her a choreo she will even skate it better than most senior ladies out there in my opinion. To me when I first saw Alenka I noticed she was a rare jewel straight away. Only she and Marin Honda and Anna S. have that natural lyrical talent that makes every single musical note in the music stand out. And I really hoped Danill would give her choreo that maximized that talent. But I found the voice overs distracting and the FS choreo lacking some color or uniqueness.

She would, no doubt about it. It's truly something to have a talent like hers, at her age. We're very lucky.

But this season she's in a bind. While I think the SP is slightly better than the FS, she really needed good programs. Both Trusova and Anna S are above her in BV and we saw how PCS went last season. There's no reason to think anything will change this time around. Her GOEs are also lower than they should be, especially when they shower Trusova with candy just for landing the quads. And now, on top of that, her programs are nothing to write home about. They're the worst out of the three actually. It's really a pity and makes me worried somewhat.

nice. :sarcasm:

Lol, no I didn't.

"What do you expect her to say, 'my programs suck'?" =/= "She thinks her programs suck and just isn't saying it". The former is literally just saying "She wouldn't/couldn't say it either if she didn't like them". And that's it. I'm not retracting anything. Not sure if that's a reading-comprehenconsider problem on your part (but then at the very least people should be willing to consider it's a misunderstanding) or if you just read into it what you want to read. Someone dares say a thing in any form or way about the holy Gral Goddess Eteri, so they must be a horrible troll out to do anything horrible a horrible person could horribly do  Anyway, that's the point where this discussion really doesn't make any sense anymore

About the firs line: it's a clear proof that Alyona is saying what she thinks. So any implying of her "she had to say it or else" (what? :) ) is just your own idea or interpretation. There is really nothing to say about it, I can't reason with emotions

The second paragraph: there is really no point in implying something you don't know. You can say that about completely any person in this world that he maybe say something different than he thinks, there is no point in that, it gives no argument into your comment. The fact is she said she likes it, the other fact is she is pretty known for saying what she really thinks. That is all. The fact that you hate the rogram for whatever reason doesn't imply that she doesn't like it either. You can' base any argument on your irrational doubts.

I'm replying to that lower. No, you just read what you want to reat, your opinion on the program deprives you from the ability to read what I've written. What I said was: "What can be added is 3A, if she will be able to jump it reliably, maybe even some quad? That is what I wish for her."

Whre is anything about perfection? At least try to read it correctly. What I've said is that I wish she could add 3A or quad to this program, not that that would make her program perfect. I like the program, I can't say which program is perfect or not, but I think I can say what program fits the skater. I rewatched Alyona's program several times and there was one section, where it was little flat but nothing that couldn't be very easily enhanced. In the choreogrtaphy as a whole I did not find anything that would make me think it is "less than she deserves".

We have nothing to talk about if you think good programs are somehow defined by a 3A and a quad. Goodness. :palmf:

When we have nothing to talk about, why did you bother to add next paragraph? :) About your implying my "imagination of perfect program" see above. But you are just twisting what I've said. "good programs are somehow defined by a 3A and a quad" is a work of complete ignorance from your side. You misjudge your emotions for arguments.

You misjudge your emotions for arguments.

The second paragraph has nothing to do with her program but apparently reading comprehension went out the window when your own emotions about Eteri/Daniil took over.
:palmf: At this point, the second hand embarrassment is too strong so I'll bow out.

In fact her last season programs, for me didn' t have specific highlights. It was the program as a whole, not some particular parts, that I liked. The flow of the music and the movements. You also doesn't see some moments properly as this is not recorded by several cameras with zooming on details, cuts and all, I would really like to see her last year programs recorded that way for comparison. Than we could talk about it :)

Mentioning of one name says his lobby is fierce

Anyway her significant seasons is the next one. It's difficult to achieve every year and a better program when you are in a small close club. Yes it will be nice if more choreographers Russian/non Russian were involved. But that's what I like in Sambo in a sense.

And Alena most likely was a little bit down in the interview because of 3A rather than the program themselves. She is one year older, maybe she started her grow spurt.

 You are starting to ridicule yourself. For the clarification. My first line was, read carefully, "When we have nothing to talk about, why did you bother to add next paragraph?" meant to your implification that I need 3A or quad for perfection, which si absolutely not not what I've said, its pure demagogy. If you want to restore some honor to yourself, you should acknowledge you were completely wrong.

My second line than was notification that you can read answer above. See? Two different lines about two different things. Its not that hard to understand ;)

Stop your holy crusade, read carefully and think about what people are saying to you, not about what you think they are saying to you.

What's your obsession with the word 'perfect' that I don't think anybody else even used before?
I'm not going to say anything to the rest, as honestly I have the feeling like I'm speaking a different language, and it's just pointless. One last thing though:

Seeing a program live usually doesn't include several cameras and zooming in on details either. Which is why some people (me included) actually prefer camera recordings from the rink site to TV recordings. And yeah, there were fan cams from last seasons programs too I'd think, so if you want to compare that, that's far from impossible.

David Wilson does lyrical very well but I find his style extremely one note and limited. He got lucky with Yuna fits his style. Maybe he might do well again with Med but I just hope he does not ruin Medvedeva and turn her into a Yuna clone.

OK, you wrote: "the only thing you can think of in terms of judging a program is "quads & 3A and more transitions", the other guy wrote "good programs". I admit word "perfection" wasn't used. Does it make any difference? No, absolutely not, can be easily used as substitution for "the only thin I'm judging the program" and also "good", the sence in both cases is the same, that those were you two who claimed something I did not say at all. I repeat I didn't say that and if you insist I did the language problem is on your side.

So, there are mobile recordings of last year test skates or skates from the same time we could compare? To make myself clear, I do not ask for fan videos from competitions but for records made in the same conditions in the same time (cca august 2017)? Do not hesitate and post it, I will be glad to see it.

I’d like to see it too but since she wasn’t at test skates last year it will be impossible

That's why I have written "or skates from the same time" :agree:

Yeah..I doubt we’ll find any fan point of view videos from any of her practices prior to last season. That would be quite the find and I’d be impressed with anyone who could provide such video. It would be very awesome though I agree

Thi is really changing into warzone and I don't deny my part in it. I'll have to take some rest, at least day or two. There can be words coming in my, heh, keyboard, I don't want to use. Relax is good, cleaning head is healthy :)
