I’ve never seen official wording from the ISU on the matter but with the frequently changing rules and how GOE is awarded I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone taken very seriously who tries to compare scores from different events and seasons.

Records are only important when it's your favorite getting them. Otherwise no one cares.

Anyways, I'm glad ISU is maintaining an historical record of the highest scores prior to the 2018-2019 season.

And I'm waiting to see how inflated the scores will be during the first year of the new quad.

Since judges are not afraid give +4 already i think this season will not be like the previous post-olympic season. Scores won't deflate and rise gradually in the quad. Score will be enormous this season.

I hate that the ISU ever pushed WR as a meaningful metric for anything. In addition to rule changes, the same program can garner vastly different scores based on factors outside the performance, such as the location of the event and composition of the judging and technical panels.

In fact they never pushes WR as any meaningful devices. It has always been the media especially since Yuna won Vancouver. The GOE system changed after that but the media was persistent on the WR narrative. Those numbers mean nothing but thanked to that creepy narrative Zhenia Medvedeva was bashed all over the place just because she was the first to score over 150 since Yuna. And those funny protests keep attacking Medvedeva while totally ignore that this progression of scores means nothing.

Because it doesn't make sense lol. Don't get me wrong, I'll play along, but that's all I'll be doing, not actually thinking "oh that's a real record". Much like if someone told me the earth is flat, I'll smile and nod, and move on.

LOL it's ok, it's all said in good spirit. It depends on the perception though, these kind of thing. It's good for non-skating public PR to entice the excitement like at the Olympics, when it's on regular season it's back to usual hardcore skating fans who knows every nook and crevices of the sports so it became less as a focus. I still automatically raise my eyebrows to someone who tried to tell me the earth is flat though so I can't be you

and the criteria for inclusion on that list must be a little odd, because there are discrepancies with some of the instances when the scores were set in the same competition.

It looks like the total scores are listed in order, but at Nebelhorn 2003 (the very first IJS competition, so the very first skater had the highest score ever until someone else scored higher a few minutes later, etc. etc.), some of the individual SP and FS scores are out of order. I'm guessing the Nebelhorn and Skate American 2003 (second ever IJS competition) skaters are listed freeskate skate order from the bottom up.

I am a Yuna's fan to be honest. And as her fan I can say she is the best of her generation without bringing up those numbers. People are moved when they watch her and that is enough. I just really dislike those numbers. All the creepy attacks on Zhenia over some weird numbers which should never be compared in the first place.

That's probably a fair point. However, I still think the ISU invites this by even posting the scoring progression over time. To me, the disclaimer is simply an acknowledgement that the values and elements have changed over time, so you truly cannot compare scores, especially between different seasons.
