I wonder why a four continents gold has always alluded him?

Because he is destined to win two Olympics hence fate won't have him touched by the 4CC gold curse! Just joking  I know people talking about the 4CC curse is silly, but when you look at the list of winners, it really feels cursed lol

I think the main reason is that 4CC just isn't that important of a competition, at least for Japan. Japan typically sends the best three to Worlds and its often the 4th/5th men and women at Nationals that goes to 4CC. It's not like for top Russian skaters where Euro results may affect their status. Sure he was often injured in other years around 4CC time, but Yuzu always competes even if injured if it is important to him. The fact he didn't and only showed up three times means the 4CC title was never high in priority.

Given that this year Worlds is in Japan (hence extra pressure for him) and there is also WTT which he has to participate for team Japan, strategically it would be better for him to not go 4CC so he is not worn out before the end of the season (he has to go Japan nationals too this year, which he hasn't for while). If he wants the full set of medals, he can go in the year he wants to retire. or after Beijing Olympics if he plans to go and believes in the curse.

Talking about curses, I am more interested in what it will take this year to break the two famous Yuzu curses - you know the "he never wins his first GP assignment curse" and the "no matter how many competitions he enters in a year, he always gets two silver, no more no less curse" that started around 2013. Maybe that lucky 1000th Olympic gold medal can finally do the trick lol Funnily enough, it was Patrick Chan and Nathan Chen that caused his second silver and broke the curse in the Olympic years - not a smart move on their part.

He accidentally hit the door of the hotel when he was interacting with his fans (we don't know how since we were not there), you can see the band aid on his eyelid in FS. I hope the same thing won't happen again.
I heard it was from certain fans of another skater that purposely closing the door in his face ..... 😷
So many ugly rumors ....

I didn’t realise there was a curse stay away Hanyu stay away! [emoji23] That makes sense about him wanting to prioritise certain events over others (especially during an Olympic season). He does have about a month gap between 4CC and Worlds, with WTT about month after that. I’m used to following tennis where players are expected to play multiple matches a week which are usually very physically tough, almost every week all year with only 1 month off. Saying that these are two completely different sports and these skating events are very high pressure, with more chances of injuries, so I understand why you need to prioritise when needed. There were whispers that it'd be in September. So we might as well sit back and relax.

But we're more likely to fizz around and fret

Re 4CC I'm dithering a bit - I would love him to have the pretty golden set, but Worlds is more important, so maybe it will come down to his healh and fitness at that point.

https://twitter.com/yuzu1207_s/status/1033995615401701378 Here are a few more TV clips from today about Yuzu, 24hr TV show etc.

There are still 45 "monitoring post" which measure the radiation dose in Naraha...I didn't know about that and think it is good these documentaries keep giving us information related to the affected areas, thanks to Yuzuru. Yuzuru said "As I am getting older, I feel like I am seeing what I am capable of clearer. The thing like having good results (in the competitions) is definitely going to be the chance for everyone to be able to smile and I am very happy for that, so first of all, I want to do it as much as I can."

It's funny because I heard 4CC is the only major ISU Event Yuzu hasn't won. If he wins 4CC, he achieves a "Grand Slam". So Maybe he might get motivated to win a 4CC Medal.

Sis/bro are you new to his fandom? The misspelling of his name has a history as long as The Great Wall with so many contributors. I think Danibellerika can give you a very diverse list of all the pronunciations his name had gained since his junior years.

This is an old post but I didn't forget about it. Yes, many a butchering. I don't understand what's so hard about his name for peeps but..*shrugs*. Poor Daisuke is another name butchered to hell and back. :drama:

Lol, I burst out laughing and woke up my cat the first time I heard someone call him "Daisuki Takahashi." It sounds like "Iloveyou Takahashi".

SO TRUE! The British uncles are certainly among the worst offenders. I daisuki Daisuke too but jeez.

For Yuzu, I just tell people I know who are personally having to hard time to just call him Yuzu. That's good enough.

When I heard about Brian's latest trips to Spain, China etc., I honestly wondered how much attention he can pay to his students at TCC at the moment... to Yuzu...

But then I look at this hug again and it gives me all the feels in the world... :ghug:

I'm dead :sad4: My Pair Queen loves my skating Emperor? Is this real life? I love them both so much :luv17:

We knew that from the ice show :) but it's lovely to hear again, and so definitively. When you think of it, they both had fairy tale endings (different, but both fairy tale!) at the Olympics... and both had to fight for them. It's a time that will always link them in my mind...

He has a business and other employees (coaches, other staff) and he has to keep maintaining or expanding that business (I doubt he is expecting another run of peerless success like Yuzu and Javi brought him, but maybe people said the same after Yuna...) I am sure that - even taking the clear emotional attachment he has to Yuzu out of the picture - he would still see Yuzu's wellbeing, satisfaction and happiness as critical, even above many of the rest, as the way Yuna left would still be a little raw and the last thing he would want is to upset his second megastar badly...

I look at that picture, but also at the Kiss n Cry moments where Yuzu (or Javi) didn't do as well and how he handles those first few, painful, public minutes with them (really far more important than being able to cheer the WRs), and how carefully he and the team handled the whole injury period from November, both from a medical and a personal stand... I'm not worrying too much.

I agree. It’s really interesting watching Yuzuru with Brian. Even when there are others in the K&C ie Tracy or Gibran etc., people whom he also respects and is close to, Yuzuru’s body language towards Brian says it all. He always sits closer to him, defaults to him when discussing his performance, always seems to gage Brian’s reaction to what happened on the ice. I think they have a very good relationship, obviously considering how long they’ve been working together and respect each other’s personal career needs and goals. I’m not worried at all about Brian’s time away from TCC and thus his time away from Yuzuru.
