I wonder why a four continents gold has always alluded him?
Because he is destined to win two Olympics hence fate won't have him touched by the 4CC gold curse! Just joking
I know people talking about the 4CC curse is silly, but when you look at the list of winners, it really feels cursed lolI think the main reason is that 4CC just isn't that important of a competition, at least for Japan. Japan typically sends the best three to Worlds and its often the 4th/5th men and women at Nationals that goes to 4CC. It's not like for top Russian skaters where Euro results may affect their status. Sure he was often injured in other years around 4CC time, but Yuzu always competes even if injured if it is important to him. The fact he didn't and only showed up three times means the 4CC title was never high in priority.
Given that this year Worlds is in Japan (hence extra pressure for him) and there is also WTT which he has to participate for team Japan, strategically it would be better for him to not go 4CC so he is not worn out before the end of the season (he has to go Japan nationals too this year, which he hasn't for while). If he wants the full set of medals, he can go in the year he wants to retire. or after Beijing Olympics if he plans to go and believes in the curse.

Talking about curses, I am more interested in what it will take this year to break the two famous Yuzu curses - you know the "he never wins his first GP assignment curse" and the "no matter how many competitions he enters in a year, he always gets two silver, no more no less curse" that started around 2013. Maybe that lucky 1000th Olympic gold medal can finally do the trick lol Funnily enough, it was Patrick Chan and Nathan Chen that caused his second silver and broke the curse in the Olympic years - not a smart move on their part.
