Alena Kostornaia

Is it really the case to make such a big discussion out of this??
I personally would use Zagi or Med or Lena Radi or other abbreviation of this kind as a form of fondness and warmth.

I'm trying to convey to you a simple idea - not you define "form of fondness and warmth", but the one to whom it is addressed. If you for some reason decide to call your girlfriend "my little pig" it is reasonable first to ask her if she wants to be called so. This is the basics of ethics. I sure you that it would be unpleasant for Alina to hear this. In Russian it sounds kind of rude, too manly, like "Hey, Zagi, dude!"

Either Danill is giving her choreo that is less busy, or Alena has amazing talent that can somehow even make rushed choreography look like it's in tune with the music.

For sure it’s the latter!

I think there was a similar discussions before... Nobody's trying to be offensive here. It's just a forum, no one will call them like that in real life. If someone thinks that "Med" or "Zagi" is an insult it's their problem.

Nobody's trying to be offensive here.

Of course, but they do it by ignorance. And a good man will explain it to them. If I were in such a situation and accidentally said offensive things about a foreign figure skater, I would be glad if someone corrected me. It's not my ego matters, but the one I'm talking about.

I don't even know how to explain. As if I'm talking to a 10-year-old... I'll try by syllables - "it's not right", "it's hypocritical", "adults do not behave this way"

Please take this discussion to your private messages. We are here to talk about Alena Kostornaya, not nicknames for Alina and Evgenia.

Come on, please. I like these skaters just as much as you do and mostly I‘ll refer to them by their first names - Alina, Zhenya, Alena - but sometimes it‘s just more convenient to use short versions of their surnames for example if I‘m writing a post about the two Alenas, I‘ll likely use Kosto for Kostornaya instead of writing Kostornaya for the 100th time in one post. It’s in no way disrespectful because none of us would ever call them this in real life. This is the internet. People are lazy. Abbreviations like lol or imo or whatever have dominated it since quite some time. And honestly, I‘m the one who hesitated for I don‘t know how long before I even dared to ask Alena for a photo. So, you can‘t tell me I don‘t respect her. And let me tell you I did certainly not call her Kosto.

well, the question is more than Zhenya and Alina (because it can about any skater), but you are right. Sorry for the offtopic.

Dude!!! (lady-dude?) Stop talking, where is this photo?! :)

Lady-dude. :) And I‘m kind of still debating whether to blur out my face or not because I kind of like the anonymity of the internet.

 It will be a kind of little weird looking... Dont' be shy :) I'll tell you a little secret - ordinary people next to celebrities are like invisible :)

Can't blame you. In 20 years some AI from some corporation may decide that your existence statistically pose financial threats to it. :) Just know that blur can often be reverted, like, from this to this.

It's not that I'm afraid somebody will find a picture of me. I use Snapchat and Instagram, they don't need to wait 20 years, they already have lots of pictures to blame their financial threats on. ;) It's more that I feel more comfortable when people in forums where I'm often online and discussing don't know who I am. Why? Can't say. Just the way I feel.

But since you probably won't believe me I even took a picture with her if I don't post it, here we go:

:)

Looking at it again it's kind of funny because I normally never grin that big in photos. I must have been really, really excited.

Two beautiful girls on one photo, what could be better? :agree:
You are the same age ? What did she say?
