When was the last time we saw Moa skating? Like a year ago, we don't know how her skating has improved (or regressed) so let's wait and see

Actually, Moa did compete in a local competition for elementary and high school students from western region (mainly around Kyoto) during the summer. The competition was held in early Aug. Here's the protocols:

SP (Moa placed 1st): https://www.jsfresults.com/local/2018-2019/fs/26/01/data0203.pdf
FS (Moa placed 3rd): https://www.jsfresults.com/local/2018-2019/fs/26/01/data0205.pdf

Total: 2nd overall.

As for their music selections, for Moa:
SP: Asturias by Isaac Albeniz performed by William Joseph (Choreographed by Suzuki Akiko)
FS: Jeux d'Eaux by Maurice Ravel (Choreographed by Pasquale Camerlengo )

Adding: music for Nana
SP: Bei mir bist du schoen (same as last season's)
FS: Once Upon a Dream

i know there have been regional competitions in Japan for some time now, that's why i said we haven't "seen" her skating since last year but thanks a lot for all the informations, i did not know the music choices of both girls for this year :agree:

There has been a replacement in the JGP Kaunas' entries, so now Nana Araki is replaced by Kinayu Yokoi:
http://www.isuresults.com/events/cat03108768.htm

Not quite sure about the reason of the replacement: I can only recall that Nana was not doing too well at Gensan Summer Cup (placing first in SP but falling out of the podium after the competition). Hope it's not injury related!

And congratulations to Yokoi sisters of both making it to the JGP! Kinayu skated in the same competition as Moa earlier in Aug, so her most recent results are in the following protocol as well: (but it should be added Kinayu also attempted 3A in competitions last season. So it will be interesting to see if she attempts the jump in her first international competition as well)

The competition was held in early Aug. Here's the protocols:

SP (Kinayu placed 4th): https://www.jsfresults.com/local/2018-2019/fs/26/01/data0203.pdf
FS (Kinay at 8th): https://www.jsfresults.com/local/2018-2019/fs/26/01/data0205.pdf

Adding: this is a short video of Japan Jr skaters's intensive training camp from last month. Kinayu can be spot during: (0:38); (1:48); and (3:46 when she attempted a 3A?)

An extremely belated congratulations to my Chiba Angel! Not only for her podium finish but for what I believe is the first time she's ever been awarded a Stsq3 for a FS!
This is a girl who only liked to practice jumps but decided on her own to diligently work on improving her spins, steps and presentation in hopes of being assigned to a "big" competition.
Shiika may currently be lacking in presentation skill (she's still uncomfortable about performing) and possess unconventional jump technique but there's a lot to be said for drive and determination.

EDIT: I lied, Shiika received a Stsq3 for her Summer Trophy FS~

Wishing her the best of luck in her well deserved 2nd JGP assignment!

Sad to here about Nana but...Go, Kinayu!

So, are there any competitions happening for super spinner Akari Matsuoka??

Sadly, Akari is having injuring (not for sure about details concerning the injury). She had to WD from several competitions earlier during this summer, and for the most recent competition she attended (Tokyo Summer FS competition) she could only do single jumps in SP and didn't qualify for FS. Hopefully she'll get well soon and can get back to competitions healthily.

Must be an injury. I hope that she will be back in great shape for regionals and sectionals and totally kill it at both nationals, and qualify to junior worlds.

I hope Nana Araki isn't injured. Hopefully they're just going to change her assignments for more appropriate JGPs. She has so much potential.

Thanks.
Is it possible to skate at sectionals without skating at regionals. I know that regionals are the competitions that qualify skaters for sectionals, but maybe there are exceptions?

Yes, if skaters are assigned to CS during Sept 21~Oct 8 , and jr. skaters who are assigned to 5th and 6th stops during that time, they will be able to void the regional competition (also depending on the region to which the skater belong). Adding: in such case, s/he'll be considered as 'exempted entry' and automatically qualified for sectionals (but taking one spot from the total entries allowed to advance to sectional and not counted as additional).

Thanks. So you can't miss regionals if you don't have another competition at the same time....

That's my hope as well. Nana is my favorite Japanese junior and I loved her FS last year and I looove her lutz.

If this is a strategic move on JSF's part, maybe they hope she'll place better at the later JGPs, i.e. away from (potential) quad-sters? Though I am not sure if JSF thinks that strategically... they're welcome to prove me wrong though!
