Voronov also talked about his FS and Denis here with GS on 2 Sep.

“Honestly, now, when I am skating this program, there are a lot of thoughts,” Voronov explained. “First of all, the music — there are some certain lyrics, when you understand them, (you realize) there is some kind of fate in life. I am just thankful to fate that it brought me to Denis and that I had the chance to work with him.”

Voronov is apparently the only top-level skater Ten choreographed a program for. “Unfortunately, he only was able to do it for me,” the two-time Russian Champion pointed out.

“Probably, what I want most of all, is that the figure skating world, and not only the figure skating world, but wherever I perform, can see how talented and versatile Denis was,” he continued. “He was not only a well-known and successful athlete, but also a choreographer. He was a person with taste and his own qualities, with a highly developed intellect, which is, believe me, not unimportant in our sport. I think, and again I’m not flattering, I looked up to him and now I’m watching his performances often, because there is a lot to learn from him.”

I'm still really struggling with Denis not being here as the season gears up.
Voronov carries some of his spirit with him as he skates the program, and I've always been and always will be a fan. There's nobody I would have picked over him to have this program choreographed by Denis in these awful circumstances. When I see him skate it in person at Skate America, I know I'm going to be overwhelmed.

This season really won't be the same without Denis. I have so much sadness that everything ended the way it did.

Personally what I will do for the upcoming season is going through all D10's previous programs; It's hard to face the fact that he is gone and as fans, we all need to recover from such loss.

here is weaver/poje's performance

i have now watched it a couple times... they really followed the lyrics and there are lots of symbols "i" would perceive as being there for Denis... for instance, reaching their hands to the sky at the end...

also, Andrew's costume with a ribbon like shape on his shoulder.

Many thanks for sharing this.
It made me cry as I watched them perform. I found a longer version with post-performance commentary here https://youtu.be/7q9wW_FMiY8
My heart broke as I heard the commentator's voice full of tears.
Beautiful program by Weaver and Poje, and I wish them well when they return to competition later this season.
I thank them for their tribute to Denis.

Stephane Lambiel skated to Ne Me Quitte Pas in memory of Denis

The last time I remembered him skating to this song was in Vancouver, before he started to work with Denis. Now Denis is gone and this song is skated again...:sad4:

I believe that's why he chose it - it was because of this program that Denis wanted to work with him.

It's really beautiful and powerful. Thank you for the link.

Sergei Voronov talked about Denis at the SA presser and said that he wants to pay tribute to him with his performance

"Voronov’s program to “Way Down We Go” by Kaleo was choreographed in part by 2014 Olympic bronze medalist Denis Ten, who was murdered over the summer in his native Kazakhstan.

“When I learned about the tragedy, it was hard for me to find words,” Voronov reflected. “I thought, this is the only program and choreography that Denis did, and for me that means I have a huge responsibility to present this program in the best possible way. I am not showing just my work, but I am showing the work of Denis. When I am skating the program, I am hoping that he is somehow watching from above.”

Voronov earned 148.26 points in the free skate and 226.44 overall."

Still unbelievably sad when I think of what happened to Denis. Tears swell up every time I see anything related to Denis.

CBC did a brief tribute to Denis on its Saturday broadcast of the Skate America Men SP: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vvywb

There was also a discussion of Denis' choreography during Sergei Voronov's Skate America LP; go to the 1:34 mark of this video (the password is men): https://vimeo.com/292062948

Kurt Browning also mentions during Voronov's replay that Denis approached him to choreograph a program weeks before the young man had passed away.

"He was intelligent beyond belief, charismatic and fun. And that was an honour to get to work with him on a program that no one will ever see but me." :sad21:

It's very meaningful that Voronov won a medal at SA that in a way also honors Denis's legacy. I hope Sergei will have lots of success with the program.
