Evgenia Medvedeva

I sadly missed both her practices today (but hope to catch her in the SP warm-up tomorrow!), but the people I was with who saw her said she looked really good and her jumps looked improved. :) And I agree, based on the vids.

Okay awesome improvements all around. Long program stpsq, really digging it. That 3sal was HUGE. She’s been working on 4sal or doing prep for it..... it’s too big not to be.

I finally watched her practice videos

FS: I see huge improvement performance wise. Her movements are sharper, more tango-like, she definitely sells step sequence. I’d like to see some transitions between first 3 jumping passes but it is more of my personal taste. Her 3S was indeed huge to the point she didn’t have absolute control in the air (tilted axis and far from perfect legs’ position). I’m still not sure about two 3Lz

SP: I liked it even before and my opinion didn’t change. It’s nice crowd pleaser and in practice she looked more relaxed than ever. At ACI she was a little bit tense and it changed a perception of this choreo so I hope she will be able to repeat what I saw in practice. Her 3Lz looked more flat than outside edge and I think she reduced her PR (TBH no lutz should be PR). Also her toe pick improved.

I’m looking forward to competition. Everything is looking good for Evgenia :)

Agreed. Especially about the transitions. Now that she‘s clearly more comfortable with the choreo, that should be the next step in order to get that good scores on the transitions part of PCS, too.

Yes! I'm sure they will keep adding to the programs as her form also improves and she gets stronger. I like demanding programs with many transitions, but I also love her new flow and I believe that Brian doesn't want to sacrifice that adding too many transitions before she is ready.

Yuzu for example has both flow and transitions, but it takes a lot of time and a lot of work to achieve both. Before, Zhenya had plenty of difficult transitions but lacked flow and speed. Now she has flow and speed and needs to gradually add the transitions back :)

In case anyone was interested, here's my 1080p fancam of her LP afternoon practice from yesterday---I sat in the second row from the boards: [Removed dead link]

I got to meet her briefly, and she kindly allowed me to have her autograph! :luv17:

ETA: The Vimeo link is now dead, so here's a Streamable one: https://streamable.com/swz9n Unfortunately, the site refuses to display it in 1080p, so you'll have to settle for 720p.

You‘re really lucky! It must have been so cool meeting her personally! :luv17:

And thanks a lot for the video. :)

From the practice videos, Evgenia looks so fit and so physically strong. She was not kidding when she said her focus is to be healthy.

Agreed. Whatever her performances at this GP might end up looking like we now know that she‘s healthy, fit, confident and happy and that is the most important. Whether she‘ll win or not is now solely dependent on nerves which is a good thing. Health is the most important. She‘s in good hands, Brian and his team are taking care of her and she‘s being responsible, too. I wish her good luck and wish her to have skates she can be happy with. That‘s all that matters. Even though I‘d certainly love to have her stand at the top of the podium I have come to terms with not expecting a lot and maybe being surprised by her. :)

You rock, Zhenya!!

Zhenya looks so much more comfortable with her programs. Maybe Sandra Bezic & David spent more time with her & things started to click.

Practice is starting soon right? The you tube linked that I got from here is now showing anything and has an !
