Evgenia Medvedeva

I just hope her team will be smart. I know they are aiming at long-term but Zhenya has a reputation. Her PCS are already suffering, she needs to show some good skates or it will drop even more. No more 2 flutzes in the FS! Level 4s, no more level 3s! I can accept a 3Lz in the SP even though she‘d probably score way more with a clean loop. But alas, it is what it is. They want that lutz edge and it‘s brave of her and I admire that. But I hope her team will do everything they can so that she can perform in the GPF.

Yeah I agree with everything said above. I remember Orser saying that they can construct competition specific programs if they wanted to, to have her win that specific competition but are actually aiming for long term. I hope that just for the next GP, they become a bit more competition specific to maximize points but still keep focus on the years ahead.

Because I have to send my letter from the other side of the world, it takes about 10-12 days, I have to know the method as soon as possible:ohwell:
If you are sending it to Canada use a courier and not the postal system.

Canada Post is experiencing labour issues at present... 10 days might not be enough within Canada, let alone from overseas.

DHL is a possibility from Russia.

Might be best to gather things together and combine to send a single courier package.

I'm nervous for Zhenya at IdF already - I know she can do it, it's just I can't imagine a final without her
I know it's about the long run, but wouldn't it be smarter to not push it TOO much? Like, okay, switching 3Lz to 3Lo in the short and moving it with 3F-3T to help her out. And doing 3F-2T-2T instead of 3Lz-2T-2T

I had overheard people talking about the labor dispute when I was out for brunch in Montreal during SCI. I only caught bits and pieces so I didn't quite get what they were talking about, so I'm glad you clarified it for me.

Same. The long-run way of thinking is fine, I support that but she needs to not lose her reputation. Losing out on the GPF would certainly be... not good. I also can‘t imagine a final without her and while I try to somehow prepare myself for it so I won‘t be completely devastated should it really happen (I would be anyway, so it‘s pointless lol), I also know that this is Zhenya Medvedeva we are talking about. THE Medvedeva. She won‘t go down without a big, big fight. If I‘m sure of anything, it is that we‘ll see her give it her everything. I hope she succeeds. She needs to either win or get a really high score on second place. It‘s hard but I hope she manages to do it.

It's a rotating strike situation rather than a complete strike.

They don't completely block an essential service, but it slows everything down.

Here's a current news story.

Yeah... I'm not great with base values, but not pushing Zhenya too hard on the things she struggles with at an important time and letting her do things she's a little more comfortable with instead would be better in my opinion.

We don't know how comfortable Zhenya really is with -3lo combos, but maybe such a thing could help make up the base value differential.

Yay!! 213 is still a big score, though. Alina only had 215 today. But her chances seem to be a bit better now at least!

At ACI with Canadian panel, butchered spin, edge warning, fall and lvl3 steps she got almost 205. I legit can't remember harsh judging from TdF in last 3-4 seasons. They are usually very generous with components so as long as Evgenia doesn't fall I think we can expect 9s and high 8s. But I agree that second Lz must go. At least for this comp

I just noticed no one commented about this, but Zhenya was in the background of another TCC members IG story (I forgot who). She was practicing her FS and doing a LAYBACK spin in place of one of the sit spins I believe :)

Like I said earlier, she needs all her spins level four. I hope the fact that she’s doing a layback means her back is doing better.

Anyways, I think the layout from skate Canada is fine, except for the second lutz. They should keep that layout with a few tweaks

3Lz - 2t - 2lo
2a
3f
2a

3f+3t
3s+3t
3lo

At skate Canada with an edge call, unclear edge call, two spins with lost levels, and a < on her loop, she still got 137 points. As I said in my last post if she skates a clean short program (around 73 points) she will only need 141+ points to move ahead of Sakamoto if she gets silver.

I know she can do it technically, my problem is that her team is so focused on that long term approach and with 2 Lutz in the FS it will be difficult. They might actually give e to both of them if this continues. I hope the judging is generous and I hope her layout is smarter designed this time.

SP: move that combo to the front. It will get more GOE this way and she has a backup plan should an error occur. Combo on Lutz wouldn’t be ideal but we‘ve seen her do it before. At least she would have had a way out. Improving on the step sequence and spins, no more losing levels!

FS: Away with that second lutz!! 3F-2T-2T combo instead of 3Lz-2T-2T. Dito as above on the levels. Then she can get a score like this but it‘s a lot to ask. She also doesn‘t have room for ANY mistakes at all. It‘s tough. She will fight and I hope she will do it!! Zhenya davai!!

A layback?? Really?? Who was that??? Yaay, that means she is physically restored now, doesn‘t it? Brian wouldn‘t let her do a layback if her back was still hurting. Maybe we‘ll see a layback spin again some time later in the season. :yahoo:

Her SP at ACI + her FS at SCI = 208 points.

Considering they include: a stepout, an UR, an edge call, two ! calls, 2 V spins, and a level 3 step sequence, I'm gonna say that Zhenya should be able to score 6 points higher than this if she finally goes truly clean :) there are around 9 points left on the table there (217 as a potential score with the lutzes still being !).

I agree that the second lutz in the FS has to go. Either they put two 3F back in or they whip out 2A3Lo- however, that's pretty risky.

Even from the U.S. First class mail is not good? Is FedEx or UPS better?

I wonder whose it was. Let's see.. who is at TCC this weekend?? Maybe we can figure out by process of elimination!

We have a few weeks now of background and blurry Zhenya excitement.

Since your calculations usually turn out to be pretty accurate, I‘m a bit more positive now. :)

Btw, does anyone know which TCC skater this was? I want to see Zhenya‘s biellmann!

It was on Joseph Phan‘s IG story. Of course it’s been 24 hours so it’s gone now, but I’ll comb through some fan pages to try and find it.

Let us know if you find it. Even though I think it will be pretty difficult. Do people normally safe athletes‘ Instagram stories? I don‘t even know how to do that... :scratch2:
