2018 NHK Ladies Free Skate

Ted Barton, Angel: "What a dramatic and moving program from Rika Kihira, and together with a historic moment. That was the first 3A-3T in senior competition, and she followed it up with another textbook 3A. Just so, so impressive. Rika, of course, was the first lady in history to land that combination, at last year's junoir grand prix final.

That's not to overshadow the skill and power of the rest of her performance, either. This young lady is quick, graceful, and has lovely clean lines. We're truly privileged to watch her coming into her own."
Has Ted's people reached out to you yet? ;) Any day now

OK, so could you clear something up for me.

Is Ted commentating on CBC (or some other channel), or is this just what you think he would say if he was commentating?

Because, if it is the latter, it is so spot on that I can actually hear him in my head saying it!  :points:

Hahaha no, Ted isn't commenting anywhere. I just channel my inner Ted Barton, who reminds me of all that is pure and good in the world.

148.24 for Satoko and 148.15 for Liza to surpass Rika. Will be difficult for Liza but it wouldn't be crazy for Satoko with a perfect skate and high PCS.

But for now, Mai!!

I wish Mai's team would mature her packaging. This music is boring and while I like the dress, meh

They could have given Leonova higher pcs. Come on. Hard to believe the girl brings it and ends up dropping a position. She deserved to beat Lim today. Yes her style is different but good for her. Poor Maria - her heart must know it is over. I can hope she can regroup but the regression has continued. Still so impressed by Rika. Still she will need to be consistent. But the judges will give it to her if she does it.

Mai's soft knees will always give me life and her skating will always bring a smile to my face. Given the competition in Japan I think she needs stronger vehicles to stand out

I’d call Mai’s programme forgettable, but it lacks the substance to have something to forget... it’s an idea of a figure skating programme, with jumps and spins and spirals and is just kind of “there” and pretty. She deserves something interesting.

Very nice skate with 6 triples. She seems happy

FS: 67.71+66.11 = 133.82, 204.20, 2/10

Now Mai Mihara made me tear up.

(That's my third time using that emoji in the Ladies FS. We have two skaters to go.)

Time fo me to campaign for Mai alone if I need too....she is such a beautiful skater with technical elements. I really could watch her skate all day. Crazy to think that skate might not be enough for the podium.
