NHK had weird scores.
I thought the Russians in ice dance were robbed, as was Liza for the silver.
I agree that it is hard to justify Satoko's GOE on jumps. Yes, Liza wuzrobbed.

This really underscores why it's critical for the federation to get the ladies to as many Challenger Series and other ISU events as they can.Thank you Skatenewbie. I never knew it was THAT complicated![]()

Skaters who have not qualified through the Russian Cup stages can skate at the Russian Cup Final. It's not a hard and fast requirement. E.g. last season Samarin only did one Russian Cup event but skated at the Russian Cup Final. Kolyada planned to skate at the Russian Cup Final in 2017 without going to any Russian Cup events (he withdrew due to back problems). Of the ladies last season, Tuktamysheva did not qualify through the Russian Cup, she did not skate in a single event.Yes, it's true and my mistake. Current standings for the three spots are Gubanova, Talalaikina and then Nugumanova. The thing is that Russian Cup stages aren't just qualifications to nationals, they're also qualifications to the Cup Final, which is not only good competitive experience but a chance to get back some standing if one WDs from nationals or skates poorly there - it's probably a reason Shcherbakova was on the JGP at all - she beat Trusova there last year. Stripping this experience of skating at Russian Cups away from those who have already qualified to nationals also means that they can't skate at the Cup Final. And there's no guarantee that Trusova and Kostornaya won't be at stage 5 since it's in Moscow and to make the cup final they must skate at two stages. It's bad enough to me that they forced Shcherbakova to skate in juniors here because now she can't make the cup final at all since she skated seniors in event II and juniors in event IV.
Yeah i watched a couple of his livestream (before i discovered i have Eurosport on my TV), and yeah the chat was nothing different from what you can find on other channel on youtube unfortunately.
During the men event they were complaining that there are too many gays in Figure Skating.![]()
I'm not often wowed by skating performances besides those of our Russian girls, but Rika Kihira's free skate at this week's NHK was really something special...https://youtu.be/xGjuadp0pSc. If, going forward, she can repeat this performance with a reasonable amount of consistency, does she become the single biggest threat to Alina's recent dominance? How would the two stack up against each other? (They're only two months apart in age, so could be an exciting rivalry.)
) or if Rika keeps skating clean.Clean Rika will have 46+87. Her SP 40.67 from ONT is with fall in 3A, which result -5 point.Rika's TES at Nepela: 40.67 + 81.05 = 121,72
Rika's TES at NHK: 38.40 + 87.17 = 125,57
Average: 123,65
Alina's TES at Nebelhorn: 43.53 + 83.54 = 127,07
Alina's TES at JO (FS Only): 84.95
Alina's TES at Helsinki: 33.1 + 74.28 = 107,38
Average: 119,24
Average TES difference between two girls is about 4 points now. Just saying that Alina is not that behind.
In fact, a clean Alina has nearly same TES (43 + 85 = 128) as a clean Rika (41+87 = 128)
clean Rika (41+87 = 128)
there is a factor that you can't estimate in points

Golden Spin entries: Gubanova, Tuktamysheva, Pogorilaya
Still nothing for Gulyakova, who is a sub, alongside Gracheva and Safonova. But I'm not optimistic about Pogorilaya competing here since she WD from three events and said she would miss nationals.
It does. So hopefully Gulyakova can skate. When it comes to Liza, doesn't Golden Spin overlap with the GPF?
