Random Confessions

My new comforter is now officially mine. Sure, it was legally mine when I bought it, but no bed covering is officially mine until it has a few claw snags from my cat chasing the laser pointer all over it.

So lovelies, I need some serious good healing vibes. I broke my wrist skating this afternoon (going backwards and tripped on something and did the stupid thing of trying to break my fall with my hands) and so need all the healing energy I can get.

Oh no! Best wishes on a speedy recovery!

If it makes you feel better, when I was a kid, I had that same issue with rollerblading (thank you, wrist guards!), and I remember one splat while my father and I were doing laps in the neighborhood — my eight year old self took him down with me. I skinned his knees but once again, wrist guards saved the day.

I'm training my 6-months old niece to be a fan of Figure skating. Last week we were watching Men, today we were watching Ice Dance. She was interested only during spins in Men, but she was pretty interested in Ice Dance overall today :hap10:

Good on you! :cheer:  :points:

Hope you're training her to be a ski jumping fan too! ;)

Had no chance yet! Season just begun today :p But no worry! With the amount of coverage of Ski Jumping in Poland, we'll definitely get there

Today has been awful, especially in terms of medical news — please stop making me show up for extremely draining appointments if you’re just going to tell me “lulz you’re complicated, here are 5 specialist referrals, good luck ever finding a PCP,” doctors — and I’ve been sobbing in pain (yay, neuropathy)... thank God for playlists of favourites skates. Yuzuru was there for me when infusions were torturous (and a failure) and for all manner of other things, and as for tonight... I really need to be taken somewhere beautiful, so Otonal on repeat it is.

My thoughts and prayers are with you :console:

Ugh, Metis, that's tough. You're in my thoughts!

Praying for you! You might want to try checking with universities/medical schools, especially ones known for research.

Yessss, train 'em young. I was born in a Winter Olympic year, and my dad had me watching skating when I was like a month old. By the next Winter Olympics, I'd have been GS's youngest poster if it had existed yet.

Well, I was born in Olympics year as well! And in January, so I was around 1 month old too. Not sure if we had TV then though, need to ask... The next Winter Olympics were only two years later, so I wouldn't be able to to post on GS yet, even if it existed

You do realise you've just given away your age... :p (Due to that being a unique situation).

I was born nearly half-way between one Olympics and the next. But, I didn't really start to get interested in any winter sports until I was in my teens. And it was a LOT later that I started getting interested in the Olympics. Like, Vancouver late.

But, I'm more than making up for it now! :agree:

I have no problem with people knowing my age though :) I mean, how many people can say they were born the same day as Piper Gilles? (well, apart of Alexe Gilles of course) First Olympics I watched FS were Torino ones. Before I remember watching only Ski Jumping in 2002 one, because of Adam Małysz :luv17:

That's cool that you have the Gilles twins to celebrate with. I have Zac Hanson... :slink:

(But, if you allow different years, I can celebrate with Brian Boitano and Harley Windsor  )

Adam Małysz. For many years my favourite ski jumper. Still think he could have carried on for a few more years, and still contending for the wins. But, he knew when was right for him. And at least we got to see him competing in the Rally Raid (another thing that, for me, he stopped doing too soon).

It's good to see him back involved in the ski jumping.

Watching the coverage of skating yesterday, I don't understand the people crying with joy over FS scores. I've been moved emotionally by the skates themselves, and sure maybe hearing a final placement gets me all giddy... but just the announcement of SP scores? I don't get it.

Well, I'm sure cheerknithanson would be thrilled to share a birthday with one Hanson brothers  And you have very good taste, if Adam was one of your favourites :agree:
