We don’t know. It’s assumed but hasn’t yet been confirmed that Yuzuru won’t be at Japanese nationals. Even if Yuzuru isn’t at nationals, Orser still may not go to Russian nationals for a variety of other reasons. We’ll know when we know, I suppose.
 
In all this stress, we missed the fact that we‘re now at over 16.000 posts and 800 pages for Zhenya! :cheer:

Ooh, she has so many good exhibition programs (I wish one of them were her SP!!!) This is just off the top of my head, but my favorites are:

1. Experience
2. Windmills of Your Mind
3. Beautiful Mess

I love Windmills of your Mind and Experience. Both are beautiful songs and most likely never would have known them.

I can't wait for her to use other choreographers. I like Benoit Richaud. He is a young guy. He did Bradie Tennells programs and Aljona Savchenko is using him too for a show. He did a Libertango short program for Mai Mihara if you are interested to see his take on it. I also think she could learn a lot from Tom Dickson. He does Satoko's programs.

3. Anna Karenina

Regarding number 3, I'm thinking of the version she did at Ice Fantasia, I found that totally fascinating even without jumps. In case that doesn't count because it's halfway her competition program I pick Windmills Of Your Mind. :biggrin:

And I had to put Sailor Moon first because it's the first video I've ever seen of her, thanks YouTube for putting it in my recommendations, it was all downhill from there. :laugh:

I love Windmills of your Mind. I mentioned before I love the ornate dress, the lyrical presentation, the actual song, and she did pretty decent with creating delicate choreography. I also love when skaters sing along with the lyrics, which she was doing a bit of. She obviously connects well to this music, and pretty much all her exhibitions, I have noticed! I think the programs are actually maybe what's causing a large part of her nervousness and skiddishness this season. It was pretty ambitious to take on two new styles at once in the midst of massive changes, but I enjoy their tenacity. I feel like if they had kept one of the exhibitions and turned it into a short program more in her original style, there'd be less criticism because even though she's not at her best, "it's still a beautiful program." I enjoy David Wilson's presence on the tour, but his magic seems to really only work with Yuna, who he seemed to have a very close relationship with. I'd really like her to work with Jeffrey Buttle, Shae-lynn, or Benoit. I'm really looking forward to next year's programs already.

Scrolling through the instagram page the dresses don‘t impress me too much. This one looks good, though. Not sure how it would look on Zhenya, however. I remember Olga saying Zhenya usually has to wear longer dresses for them to look flattering on her due to her natural body type. Thtat‘s why even though the SP dress in general is improved and more fitting to the theme with the alterations made, it somwhow looks worse on Zhenya, I feel.

Here‘s the comparison. I don‘t know, it somehow seems to make her look “bigger“ even though from practice videos we know she isn‘t at all. I don‘t know why but her ACI SP dress didn‘t seem to have this issue even though it was even shorter.

I wasn‘t even a fan of the old dress but it‘s just... so much more fitting that I can‘t help but wish for something similar being made for her. Which won‘t happen due to a lack of time, obviously. But I‘m still of the opinion that a different dress might help her feel the performance more.

This looked like a jazz look. The bangs, the dress, the performance. I know it wasn‘t comfortable for her but... aaargh it was just better. :laugh:

I agree, I was kind of puzzled honestly. Looking at the footage from test skates you can see that her body hasn't changed that much. But especially the SP dress makes me feel like the aspect ratio has been changed or something and her body looks wider than it is. I think it's the cutout shapes on the sides, and maybe the shape of the detailing on the chest.

I don't really like either costume, the design just doesn't seem to suit her.

Honestly, wasn't the first Anna Karenina dress made by Olga overnight, just with stuff she had at home? I understand if Zhenya's body has changed and new measurements would need to be taken so it wasn't convenient, but I really wish that Zhenya could have had her costumes made by Olga. Maybe they could have taken measurements during test skates. I read that the dress for Nocturne being so beautiful encouraged Zhenya -- she said it helped her jump. Surely such dresses would help Zhenya in this difficult transition period, right?

I really believe feeling pretty makes you more confident. And when she is wearing her workout outfit, she looks very slim.
And her exhibition outfit to Beautiful Mess, she looks confident and slim.

Having seen the original SP dress in Skate Canada, I can tell you that in person, the dress did not make her look big. It did not fit well (the sleeves were kind of loose), but she still looked quite lithe, but strong.
