Satoko Miyahara

a bit late to comment cause i was upset yesterday :( but if there is anyone who can make a comeback its Satton, and if yesterday's practice is any indication she will do just that!! (fingers crossed that they will solve her boot problems by then ) sometimes all you need is a bit anger to relieve from stres, cant wait to see her skate today (hopefully i can watch live and not fall asleep ) :luv17:

Oh my... Her fs looked good to my adrenalin-clouded eyes, then the scores came - this -10 TES, those PCS, the look on her face... I'm thoroughly heartbroken.
I wish her to shrug this off and train for nationals. She's still a sunshine on the ice and exquisite performer, no matter what the judges think!

As usual TES is her weak point (her scores proved it) but may she rise up to the challenge. Nonetheless, imo, she is the best performer among the finalist. Surely, I can count on her for a top notch and beautiful performance. :o: I really think her PCS should be a bit higher though.

It's shocking how much her PCS are dropping little by little. That's all I can say at this point. Deserved UR calls, but the PCS was shocking.

This was always going to be a season of rebuilding. Growing pains and setbacks are to be expected when you are reworking your technique, and Satoko has always been up to the challenge. I just wish that the judges had been more consistent this season—why build her up on the Grand Prix just to knock her down at the Final? The PCS has always been criminally low, but last night was a different matter entirely. Satoko’s look of utter disappointment broke my heart :(

At least the next competition is one where she always shines. I know we’ll see a fighter there! And speaking of fighting, thank you, Satton, for that tango last night. It was fire. :luv17:

At least she knows she was underscored, she rarely (if ever) suggests that she thought she deserved more.

"The score was lower than I expected so I guess there's still lots to work on"

She was also aware of her underrotations, but the PCS has no explanation. It's probably because they're always tied to the TES, but as others have pointed out, Carolina Kostner could still get a 75 for a technically lackluster program. In any case, unlike her SP I thought she gave an excellent performance in the FS. There's only 2 weeks left until Nationals so I hope she can get herself together. We'll see how she's scored at Nationals; if they continue to give her low PCS then the judges (or the federation) have probably given up on her.

when i remember last year's 4CC where she didnt have a great LP and later at Olympics she had her best ones i am hopeful that she can do the same at nationals, she has been there done that over and over,
and i reallly started to believe Canada is cursed place for her (and Yuzu ) so i am trying to be in peace with this :slink: whats with her stsq levels though, she keep getting level 3 regardless of where she skates

Satoko is still the third Japanese lady to enter the GPF, even if she ranked last there. So, by any rules, it shows she has greater scoring potential than someone like Mai or Mako. She is a seasoned veteran and someone the fed can always trust on to put out good performances. Even if Rika and Kaori finish above her at Nationals, she should still be sent to Worlds. It would be absolutely unfair otherwise. She’s carried Japanese female skating in the last years. And she is a hard worker and continues to improve. It‘s not even entirely her fault that her jumps are so low, she was practically forced to rotate in an direction that isn‘t natural for her. So, why do people always feel the need to pick so extensively on her? Maybe her TES score is too high but she always gets too low PCS so there‘s that. People don’t have to like her but this constant screaming of her being done is so tiring. But that won‘t change anyway. It‘s not only Satoko who‘s got her downfall proclaimed thousands of times already.

I hope she does well at Nationals and isn‘t too sad about the result here. She is still a great skater and no matter where the judges put her, she is one of those who manage to touch me. Her SP is one of my favorites this season.

Don‘t give up, Satoko, you are great! And we’ll always support you! :luv17: :cheer:

They couldn't invalidate her step sequences so they decided to take away PCS  But seriously, it's frustrating to see StSq3 come up every time, her step sequences are so great in both programs. I noticed that they're being strict with the levels this season but she's losing valuable points there and they need to fix this. The ISU twitter posted her statement that her problem is mental and that she can do many good jumps in practice. I hope GPF will be a lesson for the future competitions.

I don‘t know a lot about step sequences but where does she lose the level? Is it because she doesn‘t cover enough ice? I have watched her program again to see whether I could spot her making small hops on the edges (that‘s what cost Yuzu a level on the step sequence in the Olympics) but I couldn‘t see anything... Oh, well... She‘s not the only one who constantly loses a level this season. But it‘s making me a bit angry as she has probably the highest quality in skating skills, edges and steps. And some who have a lot less of that and look laboured on the ice always get the level 4... I mean, come on, ding her on the jumps all you want. But not on something like steps!

Does anyone have an explanation for her lost levels?

The problem with scoring is that her PCS can only be high if her TES is high as well. The minute her TES drops like it happened here, the PCS go down with it. I expected people to start writing her off like her career is over and like she was never relevant in the first place, but she still scored 219 two competitions in a row, the 2nd highest SB among Japanese ladies. If last season was any indicator, she's not the type to give up after a bad competition.

Satoko is the final skater in the Ladies SP! Wishing her the best of luck, her SP is one of my favorites
