Thank you! I took one look at that video and thought it looked like he was playing as if he were in the Japanese Volleyball Finals. Good grief! It's so hard for me (an extremely NON-competitive person) to identify with anything like that. I guess that's why he has a few more medals than I do. Shoma, you're amazing!

Have you seen this interview with Shoma? (it's subtitled) It actually mentions his senpai later on and how he was pleased that he was impressed by his power!

Keiji is such a cute geek.

I still enjoy how huge that trophy is, that it takes up an entire seat of its own. It's almost a letdown to give it back in exchange for a much smaller version.

just rewatching some of his SP this season (that survived the current purge of skating videos, sobs) and a comment from one of the B.ESP guys gave me pause : he said Shoma has the problem of 'over-rotating his jumps, not underotating them' - he kinda has the problem of decelerating from his jump and stopping the upper body rotation when he hits the ice. This is especially apparent on his 4T.
It's like his body want to do more than just 4 rotations hahaa.

The thing is I also heard this before 2 years ago, at his 4CC competition in Taipei. And it makes me think, wow - if he just had enough height to finish the intended rotations in the air, can he actually do a 5T???
