This was worth staying up for. Oh my God. Okay, so maybe they just really didn’t want to give it to Rika and settled for Kaori when she delivered. But I’m choosing to believe she’s being rewarded for TWO solid programmes.

Kaori feels the most honest joy. In her skating and her reactions. It's refreshing to see, especially after Russian Nationals. I mean there was definitely a lot of tension here as well, but also so much joy. Man, that was an awesome competition!

Nah, with the 3Lz iffy she's not going to win against Kihira Rika with those 3As.

Edit: Okay, I am eating my words. But good for her!

I think the Japanese federation decided to play the nationals game a bit this year and overscore their promising skaters. The only one who will get that score internationally is Rika. But, I feel Japanese skaters are often underscored maybe this new strategy will work!

I am the happiest girl this weekend between Anna and Kaori, the girl I confessed my undying love & support to at Vancouver airport after her disappointing JGPF and the girl that made me cry at the GPF :sad4:

Not even going to pretend this doesn't hurt a little... I wanted gold for Rika so badly lol... and yet the drama?!?!? That was terrific by Kaori, and now I hope it really gets into Rika's head that she HAS to do better in the short from now on, because this is the first time her comeback power didn't quite work.

Still, in between this and Russian Nationals, good god... ps Yuma Kagiyama for Japanese champion!!

I’m super happy for her, she was nervous but the point between her spirals and the end was magical!
