2025 Japanese Junior Nationals | Nov 22-24

I am baaack, right in the middle of Yo's skate - glad I didn't miss her glorious choreo sequence :jump3:

Seems like she had a rough skate though :( And who the heck got 78.65 TES?? :jaw:
 
Oof usually Ikura performs well in domestic competitions but not this time :( Many pops, a step out and fall....

I hope she won't have any regrets moving from singles, I think ice dance will be a much better avenue for her indeed.
 
Ah Mei, if not for the 3A fall she might be able to lead over Mayuko, but I understand she wants to try it in competition.

That should still be enough for podium though, hopefully she can break the Kinoshita domination!
 
OUCH I don't think I've ever seen Mao's 4T that off axis like that, I yelped at my TV 😱 Then 3A fall and tight 3Lz-2T as well.....

I think she has enough cushion from the short, but I wonder if this will be the first time ever Mao loses the free skate? 🤔
 
So I was right! Mayuko won the free but Mao still won overall.

If only Mayuko had scored just 2 points higher in her short, she would've been the first ever person to defeat Mao in a junior competition, domestic or international....

Ah such is life, at least Mayuko managed to beat her in the free skate, which I think is the first time ever as well (Jia has defeated Mao in SP before but never in FP).

I just checked and Ami(137.42) actually scored higher than Mao(132.51) during 2022 senior nationals although it was during a senior competition both ami and mao were still juniors at the moment
 
Final Top 6 (not including Mao and Karin, so down to 8) will be considered for a recommendation to compete at Senior Nationals
9 thru 11 may be considered to fill the remaining three spots
Unless a change is made, Final Top 8 should receive federation funding for next season

Yeah I was mainly talking about junior competitions. Still impressive what Ami scored in 2022, especially since she forgot a combo and +REP herself - her score would've been even higher otherwise 😅

And to add insult to injury, Kaoruko placed 9th - just out of the funding cut off 😭

I bet JSF will spare her zero consideration for Senior Nationals as well 😒
