2019 US Nationals Senior Ladies Free Skate

aaah, i told myself not to care about nationals inflation yesterday, but some of these scores are truly ridiculous :dbana: restrain yourself a LITTLE, usfd. cheers for alysa, hanna, and ting though.

I’m so happy for Alyssa because she was absolutely a gem with her two 3As. I am scared that there will now be so much pressure on her that she could crumble. I hope she’s surrounded by people who will help her navigate this!

Exactly what I mean... the sobbing felt a bit much since the occassion was big but not that big.

As someone with an almost 13 year old at home, those sobs may have just been a pressure release. This is all pretty new and crazy for her, we may not see sobbing/tears again next year.

Yeah, the sobbing was a bit much for me. I mean, she's not fighting for a worlds or olympic spot; she's 13, first senior nationals with nothing to lose- I guess I expected something more like just beaming and excitement. But maybe that's just the way she reacts, I guess.

Remember, she’s still a child. Give her a break.

13 years old at her first senior nationals after a great performance. probably hasn't had a lot of time to learn controlling emotions. i'd give her a little slack.

Idk, I am more intrigued by Hannah walking away from this competition. Alysa's triple axels are a technical feat, no doubt, but there were some visible UR jumps that didn't get called. I also would have switched second and third. They both had an equal amount of mistakes and internationally, Bell scores better in PCS than Bradie anyway.

World team: Bradie and Mariah alt: Ting, Megan, Amber

4CC: Bradie, Mariah, and Ting alt: Megan, Amber, Starr

JW: Ting and Hanna alt: Gabriella, Audrey and (???) (all the girls with the qualifying scores WD :(:(:(:()

Had Ting been in the final group, she would have easily won the free skate and probably the competition.

The mistakes in the short were entirely on her though. She needs to work on consistency.

The biggest take away I have from today is that there is a lot of young talent in the US to be excited about. Hanna, Ting, and Alysa were all impressive.

Also- Mariah was ethereal today- shame about the fall.

I’m afraid my takeaway is “What a horrible splatfest” and “what on earth happened to Bradie Tennell?” I’m not even particularly a fan of hers but she’s always been so consistent. So I’m assuming Worlds will be Bradie and Mariah and I’m thinking no shot at getting 3 spots back (and I really like Mariah a lot!)

Nobody knows hat's going to happen next year, but Alyssa is definitely a good competitor. Going to the Nationals with all the hypes, I don't think she has nothing to lose. I remember Tessa Hong at the 2017 Nationals was hyped by her coach just being the youngest senior lady (not national champion) and had a disaster LP.

Bradie has not been that consistent since last season—actually since Nationals last year.
