Apparently, Alina said she is training quad loop.... I pray to all Gods we do NOT get another video of her doing underrotated horribly landed "quad" in harness. Please... let the girl rest. She looked very exhausted in her FS.

Tuk's last name is in honor of this man:Let's not forget how diverse Russia is. Oh well, Russians are indeed very diverse. There are a lot of them and a lot of them are very different. The only only other country which as diverse as Russia is US. Liza is your not typical "European Russian" and not a stereotypical blond-blue-eyes regular Slavic girl. She is a Tatar or Udmurt, iirc. So, yeah, there are probably some Asian/Middle Eastern culture in her. She was born somewhere close to St Petersburg, AFAIK, but that's her genes. That gives her flavor and different style. I'm all in for diversity in styles, cultures and choreography.

Why? They've said Nationals, Europeans and the Russian Cup Final will determine who goes to Worlds, fact is that only 1 that has taken care of business at Nationals/Euros was Sofia. As long as everyone knows that Russian Cup will determine Worlds I'm fine with them doing essentially a 'skate-off' - this might become the norm for Russia to deal with the situation of a crowded field.
Cant have that. Why? Because Alina is bringing her Japanese bred Akita Masaru to the World championships! And because Alina has won 3 golds and 2 silvers this season and becuse worlds is the only title she hs not won. Rusfed will send her. If they dont send Alina and Masaru to Japan it could start another Russo - Japan conflict! :eeking:Cant have that.
:gaah:Today Daniil commented European Gala exhibition and said who will go to Junior Nationals from "Khrustalny". Trusova, Sherbakova, Kostornaya and Usacheva. Valieva will not go because of a small injury.
Well, this seems to be a new PR strategy for her team. That quad flip training video came a few days after people were talking about her Nationals performance, especially her long program. And the 3Lo has been her most problem jump with pops and URs this season, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do put up a 4Lo training video. I mean if people can see that she is working on a 4Lo, there must be nothing inherently wrong with her 3Lo, right?![]()
I really hope that next season, Alina will get programs kind of like her Survivor gala/in a more modern style like that. Her past/current programs have been good, but I still don't get why her team is trying to sell a "classics" image so badly on Alina. I wish that they would work more on artistic refine, close to what Alena Kostornaia is superb at. Skaters like Carolina Kostner have proved that you don't need a million arm movements back and forth to get amazing PCS. I'm not a fan of stuffing in transitions just for the sake of trying to stuff as many as possible as you can. I think all the transitions are really wearing out Alina during her program, and it seems like she can do the jumps, but all the almost unnecessary movement is making her tired.
What's Eteri supposed to do to make the user Wheelz believe her? Kneel in front of him?

... Those interested in geology may know that the Permian era was named after Perm (because of the local rock strata).
Perm, a small city (1M, half the size of Minsk), established in the 16th century, situated on the Europe side of the Urals, in the foothills, surrounded by taiga and on the banks of a mighty river, the Kama. The Trans-Siberian Railway stops here. It was named Molotov for a while last century. It was a closed city during the Cold War years. My life today has been enriched in a way I'd never have dreamed.

No it isn't.
Firstly, some people may be getting confused between Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk. Sofya is from Krasnoyarsk, which is 5000+ km away from Ossetia and Dagestan. Krasnoyarsk is as far from Ossetia as New York is from central Brazil. There is absolutely no proximal connection between Sofya and the Kavkas.
Secondly, a large chunk of Russian genealogy got disrupted when 27 million Russians lost their lives in '43-44, defeating fascism. So it is always tenuous, to say the least, to draw connections between "surname" etymology and genealogy with any faith.
Just wanted to add: Of course, that number included many Belarusians (bellorussians, then), Ukrainians, and people from other SSRs of the time.
