2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I am still so gutted for Guliakova. She is one of the only Russian girls who isn’t teeny-tiny in size. And yet she is still very flexible and has nearly everything needed to be a top lady. I want her to succeed. I want her to get Internationals and GPs and show the world that not all Russian ladies skaters have the same body type.

If Alina wins the worlds there is a big chance that she will retire next season...unless there will be a big puberty hit on 3A. I just don't think Alina will be motivated to go on if 3A squeeze her out of the Russian team, her the Olympic champion who beat Medvedeva, Osmond, and Miyahara in their prime.

I cant see Alina retiring in the next couple of years. Puma just signed her and they want her to win medals. Also I would think Alina would want to still be skating in a few years so she can skate in a rusnats with her now 11 year old sister if Sabina gets good enough. That would be amazing and unique history for them.

If Alina gets surpassed by a few skaters in the next couple years so what she's already Olympic champion for ever. Do I think Alina ever wants to learn and implement 3A or quads in her program? I have my doubts. And if she doesn't so what she's Olympic champion forever all the skaters after her are trying to achieve what she has.

We have to be real. Alina still does complex enough programs with intricate footwork that few others have so she should still be competitive for years.

I really want to know what Kamila Valieva’s sp music is, so I can go download it. Does anyone know what it’s called?
Also, what is Ksenia Sinitsina’s sp music for this season?

Mitoka Samba, Batucadas
Celia Cruz, La Vida es un Carneval
Thalia, Mujer Latina.

Today was not so good for the russian ladies competing :(

Sima for some reason has added 3Lz ('surprisingly' called as e) to her SP...

Nastya idk what happened today. But she did land 3As in the warmup (no idea if fully rotated) so I am optimistic about her. A trump card like the 3A can still make her stand out among the many great russian ladies in the future and give her chances :)

Liza does not look terrible (she landed the 3A in the warmup) but if she doesn't rock the FS this might not be enough to confirm she got back in shape for worlds. I think we will see her again at Universiade or the Cup Final...

first Arvo Part - Spiegel im Spiegel, then Fernando Velázquez - Allerdale Hall

Very sophisticated and unusual music for a child to skate to. Such 'minimal music' really draws you into the performance of the skater, and only the best skaters will captivate your imagination and hold your attention. Bravo to Kamilla, for she is such a skater.

While following YT's recommendations with the above tracks, I came across Pan's Labyrinth OST and interpretations, have these ever been used for figure skating?

My former opinion of LittleBit is that she was so pokey. Now, after time with Eteri, her jumps are bigger, her conditioning is better, she skates with speed!-still a work in progress, but a far better skater. How much of this is the environment of superstars or the Eteri team, who knows.

How much Katy? 75% by my count. They make each other better and hungry.

I guess EG has 2 senior ladies.

Totally agree. But GP assignments for Guliakova next year won't happen I'm afraid. She has too many Russian girls ahead of her. Same goes for Gubanova who is the 10th Russian girl in the seasons-best-list (beaten by Tarusina with 0,11 points). And added to that is the ranking list where Sotskova will still be high. So Guliakova/Gubanova will have to settle for the Challenger series yet another year...

I will spesk frankly even after a couple glssses of wine. ;)

Gubanova needs to gain dual citinzenship while still training in Russia. Why not? ET reps Kazaskstan while training in Moscow. The precedent has been set for Nastya and others. Nsstya is way too beautiful a skater to be number 10 in any country and she.would be #1 in many countries.

Thumbs up for all the spesking and the glssssssses of wine!:)
But I disagree with the dual citizenship-thingy. Didn't Julia Soldatova try that many years ago, and it ruined her career??:scratch2:

Thanks I guess. Lol.

I dont recall if Julias dual citizenship ruined her career. What does Nastya have to lose? When 3a turn senior next season Nastya will be even more buried than she already is. Sad.

What I'm thinking is that Russia is a big country. FS is a big sport. There are lots of opportunities within the country as a figure skater without international championships/GP-medals. So if you are meddling with dual citizenships - maybe you are ruining your domestic career? I don't know - I'm only speculating here...

In Soldatova's case, I think it all started in 2000 when she only came 4th at nationals and wasn't picked for the world team. She switched nationality to Belarussian for the next couple of seasons but returned to Russia in 2004 and she came 2nd at Russian nationals. But RusFed didn't pick her for the world team as payback and she retired after that...

Just realized the strange voiceover in Kostornaia's R&J program was not added. The voiceover version of R&J seems to be quite popular this season.

(as for payback, i disagree. Rusfed controls scoring at nationals, if they wanted a payback, she wouldn't be at top 6 or so, simply put)

Currently, there are two main issues about changing citizenship and competing for another country: one is the $$$, as FS gets a lot of support in Russia, and another are PCs (judges don't like nonames).

You need to be Ekaterina Ryabova to be allowed to skate for another country these days. The stronger girls are not going anywhere. (In case someone thinks changing countries is easy, Abachkina wanted to skate with Drozd, both Feds said "not happening", Abachkina is now retired).

But did Julia bomb euros after rusnats silver? And how many spots did Russia have in 2000? 2? Maria and Irina would go before her.

No names?

To me the only way an Anastasia Gubanova or Daria Panenkova or many others not in the Russian top 5 before 3a are ever going to skate in a world championship for European championship for the Olympics is to change countries to a country that would need a skater of their caliber such as Germany or Switzerland or many owners.

Once Rusfed sent Stasya to worlds last year instead of Gubanova the handwriting was on the wall for Nastya. And she got a 1 second time violation this season that cost her a Grand Prix spot next season. SMH. And if shes okay with being 7 o 10 in Russia once 3a are seniors then I will accept that. But I doubt she will be happy with that.
