I think we‘ve all thought about that. I have, at least, very thoroughly so. But I will say that with everything rusfed has done in the past and what various people have said before this competition, this option does not make sense to me. We have Sofia, she‘s the European Champ. It‘s like an unspoken rule that the Euros champ gets to go to Worlds. I don‘t think there‘s ever been an exception. And then we have Alina which is admittedly a difficult case but I still cannot imagine her not going. Why? Because she would have been here for the RCF if her spot was in danger. If they were even considering not sending her, they would have told her. That leads me to believe it was the third spot that was decided here. Of course, as we have a very tight result between Zhenya and Liza, this makes the whole situation more complicated and I frankly don‘t know what rusfed will do. But I, personally, doubt that they will remove either Sofia or Alina from the team.
Sofia: I think it‘s clear. She‘s Euros Champ, consistent, her scores have been rising
Alina... she did medal at all her international competitions this season. Of course I‘m aware that she has been having problems lately but she still gets very high PCS despite of that. And if she is clean (= no falls in this case) which she almost always is in practice, she could potentially challenge Rika Kihira for the gold. Also, she has been saying in interviews that she would go to Worlds, so if there was any doubt about that, I don‘t think she would talk so easily about that. I guess they have been watching her training process and if she was deteriorating, they would have had her compete here.
But that‘s just my opinion, we will only really know when the worlds spots are officially announced.
