2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Winter Universiade is taking place in Krasnoyarsk

... the oldest city in Siberia, settled around 1608, town established late 17th c, razed by fire and rebuilt late 18th along the style of StPB
...and the largest city in Central-Eastern Siberian, just over 1 million (in Siberia as a whole Novosibirsk is the largest at 1.6M and Omsk at 1.1M)
...by road from Moscow 4100 km, by air 3300 km, by road from Vladivostok 4200 km, by air 3000 km

...situated in the southern Taiga (boreal forest) where river plain, low plateau and a low mountain chain meet
...on the banks of the mighty Yenisei River (flows 4000 km from Mongolia to the Arctic Ocean) a huge generator of hydroelectricity

...tourists can take the river steamer from Krasnoyarsk to Noriilsk (Arctic), 2000 km, 8 days
...and then there's always the Trans-Siberian Express to hop on, east to Vladivostok or west to StPB :)

Chekhov visited in 1890 and wrote: "...Resting on that bank Krasnoyarsk is the best and most beautiful of all Siberian cities, while on the other bank the mountains reminding me of the Caucasus are just as smoky and dreamy."

Nansen visited in 1913 and wrote: "...We visited the city park which is recognised as the best in all of Siberia…The city’s streets are wide and straight, there are stone houses on the main streets, but most of the buildings are made out of wood. Krasnoyarsk is beautifully situated on the left bank of the Yenisei, in a valley surrounded by mountains..."

...Sofya Samodurova is from Krasnoyarsk. Another figure skating connection is the late Vladimir Krainev, known as a famous Russian pianist and musicologist, who was Tatyana Tarasova's husband.

Thank you for this....Russia is so huge!!!

nothing new...She is injured she WD from JWCH. They wish her speedy recovery..and there are 25 comments under the post

No. The official notice said she is withdrawed by medical reasons. It's not exactly means that it's injury. While it's most probable case - there is still a chance that it's some temporary ailment. As many can remember - she had problems with allergy in the past.

According to fso.online Alena has serious injury (smth with her fibula and ligaments)

According to that same insider, her team and the fed knew she'll likely have to pull out for a while, but waited until now in hopes for improvement, which sadly didn't occur.
If you think about it and have some medical knowledge - those two statements contradicts each other. There is no need to wait for medical checkup - and if they knew that the problem with the bone and ligaments - they probably did the checkup ASAP. And you CAN'T wait for athlete to recover quickly with injured ligaments and bone. You can't skate with such condition. Period. There is no sense in waiting.
So, something fishy is here.

I don't get it....Lol

Very fishy..

Hoping this little angel is back to skating soon.

I am devestated that Kostornaia won't be there:( But I guess that means I have to cheer even more for my girl Shcherbakova:clap:

I wanted the substitute to be Tarakanova and not ksenia

Sinitsyna did better at Russian Junior Nationals, she skated two clean programs back to back and from a technical standpoint, she has very difficult elements planned with the 3ltz-3lo as the last jumping passes in the short and 3ltz-3lo and 3ltz-3t-2t in the 2nd half of the free skate.

I think she deserved this chance.

But you could argue Tarakanova also deserves more recognition than what she has now and you're right as well.

More importantly, i'm looking at the entries for Universiade: is Tarasova basically deciding all the teams and everyone from the Federation is okay with it?

There are like 10 skaters who deserved more that spot than Maria Sotskova.

Personally i would have chosen Konstantinova-Tarusina.

Universiade is for University students only. Tarusina is not a University student.

How about Talalaykina, Nugumanova, Gulyakova,... none of them are University students?

Isn’t they all are 16 years old? Usually university students are 18+

The age restriction minimum 17. On their launch page for Universiade, ISU has this description,
The Universiade is the international sports competitions among students, holding under the aegis of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Competitions are held every two years, and students from the age of 17 to 25 years and graduates who have received an academic degree or a diploma in the year preceding the competition are allowed to participate in competitions.

For some peculiar reason, they then follow with three photographs
1 Mariya Dimitrieva, 2 Anastasiya Gulyakova, 3 Mariya Dimitrieva

Mariya is 11 years old

:palmf:

We can't determine how dangerous her injury is until there will be official confirmation and more details.
I bet she wanted to show us 3A in her free skate (

Didn't she mention in an interview that every time she starts working on the triple axel is when she gets injuries? Perhaps they should move her to trying quads to match with her training mates difficult jumps, after all Shcherbakova broke her leg and like a year later was training quads.

To answer your question, yes.
