Mao Asada Pre-Victory Party!!!

I read an article somewhere that the Japanese tabloids made a big deal when they caught Miki Ando wearing a miniskirt. Compared to what goes on in American tabloids, that's pretty tame.

For all Mao detractors, you don't need to read and/or respond to posts under this thread. I don't want to hear any whiners. This is going to be a Mao worship shrine.

While I understand the desire to worship at the knee of one's favorite, I don't get your obsession with deciding who can and cannot post in threads on a public board and then calling a person a whiner because they don't share your opinion. That's just silly. Let it go...

Not to mention, tempting the skate gods is NEVER a smart move...:disapp:

oh come on, knock it off. what if it was an MK thread?  ;)

Please let the record show that I have never nor would I ever discourage anyone from posting in any thread... but then I'm a grown up that way... because I can defend my kwan worship with thoughtful, complete and thorough rebukes to those who cannot see true greatness and perfection. I actually encourage debate - I like proving people wrong. But stomping my foot and throwing a tantrum isn't my style, so maybe it is better to demnd that those who don't agree with one point of view don't post... or lock the thread to non-fans... or here's an idea - take it to a fan-specific board.

Or am I just in need of a nap?;)

:agree:

I think a 70 in the short, and 135 in the free skate are realistic target scores for her if she does her best. I would love to see her break 200 anyway, she is certainly talented enough to.

Has 'temperboy28' been banned ? I haven't seen him for a while. I hope not, he's a sharp guy!

Now whatever on earth gave you that idea....hmmmmm??? A "sharp" guy, eh? Are you perhaps acting on behalf as a personal reference?

GS does not take publicize nor discuss internal administrative matters - not a professional thing to do.

I strongly suggest you do the same.

I think that instead of going after scores, Mao needs to focus on landing everything cleanly....Personally, I think that a "pre victory party" is an awful lot of pressure to put on this young girl at her very first worlds. This kind of pressure is prehaps why Plushenko didn't win his first worlds.

That's not going to happen, you can take my words to the bank.

Ahem. I bank at Greater Nevada Credit Union. Would that be cash, check or charge??

(I actually thought  in terms of Mao's LP, but loved when Miki pulled it out, and part of that schazenfreude has to do with certain over-the-top fans...hmmm, like the one who predicted top 10 for Mira Leung as well.....)

Although not everything panned out, it's pretty close. The Mira call is dead-wrong though.

This can now be turned into the Asian Fortress Post-Victory Party.

I think U.S. will be doing just fine in ladies in years to come. Caroline Zhang & Mirai will not sit idle. Emily finally got what she really deserved, it's long overdue. Kimmie will still be a medal contender if she keeps improving. But her 3+3 is simply scary.

Canada is doing fine in dancing, but not in other disciplines. They need to teach kids jump, not just artistry.

The biggest loser is Russia. Do they still have two spots for ladies? I knew they only have one for men, two for pairs and two for dancing.

It isn't good form to organize a victory party before the competition. Michael Weiss found that out the hard way in 2003, and now Mao knows that in 2007.

Mao threw away a possible victory in the SP when she popped the second half of her combination. The gap between Mao's and Miki's SP scores was so great that even Mao's huge FS score couldn't bridge it.

The surprise was mostly Ando beating both Asada and Kim, the two big favorites in this comp. I think most of us figured the podium would be that in some order, but with Kim's high SP score (which is what really kept her in the medals) and Mao's high FS score...it's just that every worlds there's SOME sort of surprise in the ladies. Sometimes it's a downright shocker (Shiz winning in 04, Kimmie winning in 06), sometimes it's more subtle (Ando winning this Worlds, Cohen placing 2nd in 2005 after a rough season).

To be fair, Mao didn't start, or title, this thread. ;)

Congrats to Mao Asada for winning the silver medal in her senior worlds debut! :)
