^^^So glad you said that! I honestly didn't even notice!!!! :hb: :points:

I love your avatar, Arriba.
Of course I like olive crown Shoma.
I’d like to see bulldozer Shoma in Saitama Worlds.
Is there anyone going to the Worlds?
I’m going to men’s competition and the gala.
Shoma’s sister Mao became a champion in Saitama Worlds 2014, and I was there.
And I also saw Shoma’s green Turandot in Japan open 2015.

That was fascinating!
I think Saitama is lucky place for Shoma.
Go Shoma!:cheer::party2::cheer::party2:

I wish I'm going!! (had planned for it but work scheduled doesn't allow it ugh)
Please cheer really really hard and loud for Shoma on behalf for the rest of us who won't be there! My best thoughts and wishes will definitely be with him.

Also how amazing it is that you got to see in person Mao's amazing record breaking SP in 2014 Saitama!
(and Akiko Suzuki's last World skate )

hahaha I love these! It's too bad the page hasn't been updated but when it was active it was thoroughly entertaining to see what comes next. Have you seen the ones with Sho and the cats that best resemble his pose?

I've always loved the Sho and cats and still think we need a calendar of them!

You're so lucky jerrymouse! Have a wonderful time at Worlds. Please cheer on our favorite bulldozer. I figured I had to have a special avatar for the occasion! You have already seen some great competitions at Saitama (lucky you!), and I hope you bring luck to Shoma again. Can't believe you were fortunate enough to see Mao's 2014 skate when she won Worlds. That was such an emotional skate!

Nope, except like twenty or so shots of Yuzuru and Uno in cat-ears twitter loves bringing to me. But if you, guys, insist... I think I can absolutely review Shoma Uno and Cats materials once I am done with being all aww! and ohhh! after JWC :) I mean, it’s 2 weeks till the Worlds, and the web vibes are becoming more and more important! Let’s outvibe everyone!

Shoma and Cats?? A bunch of those came from the kitaroxkitaro Instagram. There hasn't been a cat comparison picture since this season started though. Here are the last ones:

:gclap: Thx for the reminder. I completely forgot who it was that had all the cats! Those always make me smile! That one with the shopping carts is hilarious, as are others!

We’ve reached 13,000 posts! :cheer:
Congrats Arriba! What better post to have at #13,000 than one with the new confident Shoma

Shoma's FF now has 2,348,376 views.

:eeking::rock::hap57: Wow, our Sho is so much loved by GS members!

Can't believe the Worlds is just around the corner. :drama: It should be Shoma's this season. Will be wonderful if he can win on his home turf  (though I can't go to Mens event despite my trying to get tickets 6 times... :angry2:)
Who's coming to Saitama among Shoma fans here, I'd wonder. The timing will be perfect since cherry blossoms are due around March 21th in Tokyo area. Those who are coming, please do have a safe trip , enjoy your time , and most of all, please do cheer for our Shoma an the arena for us, too!

Jerrymouse, that's amazing! I hope both you and Shoma have a great time at Worlds.
Please cheer hard for Shoma on behalf of the DBC and enjoy your trip!
We will cheer hard here as well!
:cheer::cheer::cheer:

Also yes, deedee1, I've been reading all the news about the cherry blossom season in Tokyo coming right in time for Worlds! I have been to Japan at the summer and winter, but never spring. It's definitely on my to-do list. I hope you enjoy the Sakura too, jerrymouse!

This is a bit late since 4CC was a month ago, but I love this recap from insideskating:
http://www.insideskating.net/2019/03/09/features/2019-four-continents-a-journey-through-emotions

For Shoma's Stairway to Heaven:

As soon as the music starts, Shoma Uno becomes one with it. And the thing about him is that he draws you with him, on the stairway to heaven. And he had his share of bad luck, and breaks, this season – with him spraining his ankle three times prior to Four Continents, but he’s here, and he’s fighting, in spite of not having the practice time he wanted. In Anaheim, he’s sharp and he’s commanding – it’s like his body screams: “I’m here – don’t dare to go away, don’t dare to look away”. And we don’t, we won’t. ’Cause this program creates a fantastic atmosphere.

For Shoma's Moonlight Sonata:

For four entire minutes we were in Shoma Uno’s world. A world where every movement takes its time, matures, completes itself, a world in which no gesture, not even the tiniest one, is rushed. A world where Shoma leads the way, and owns every second of his “Moonlight Sonata”. A world breathing calm and confidence, a world where little Shoma Uno from 2014 Junior Worlds in Sofia becomes a big boy – and wins the first major gold medal of his senior career. Silvery sparkling Shoma becomes golden Shoma, but he doesn’t lose his patina of noblesse. He has done it, and he can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

But, hands and knees on the ice, at the end of the skate, he doesn’t know he’s golden yet. And stays modest even in the quick quotes area: “There are skaters after me that have great potential to surpass my score”. A few days later, asked about what’s different, when coming back to Japan with a gold medal around his neck, he’ll answer Shoma-style: the number of journalists is now bigger.

For those who are wondering why insideskating refers to Shoma at Sofia (Junior Worlds 2014) instead of Talinn (Junior Worlds 2015) where he was the Junior Champion, their first feature of Shoma was after watching him at the former: http://www.insideskating.net/2014/0...hort-list-of-joys-uno-radionova-krylova-orser

Hahah I deleted my post because I literally did not realize you had posted the same thing before

But oh!! I love the write up and observation about Shoma. The thing with MS - I did not like the program when it first debuted. But when he skated it like that, the way he did at 4CC - it was as the writer said: He drew us into his world, the notes of music falling around him as he held our attention throughout. No movement was without purpose, every extension down to his fingertips was dripping with intention. He was soft, gentle and yet strong at the same time and just.. utterly mesmerizing. It completely changed the way I see the program now.

My analysis of the Moonlight Shomata, if anyone's interested -- you'll find the English translation below, under the Russian original. I had very mixed feelings about this program initially, but it grew on me, I guess. :) I love its inner musicality and sophistication.

YEESSSSSSSSSS. I really wish I can give a longer response to this, because Dr. H., this is just fantastic. I love the details you wrote on the Moonlight Sonata as a composition itself compared to the choreography and structure of Moonlight Sonata, the program. And of course, Shoma in the middle of it all, weaving in and breathing out in a language that the music and program both speak. Unfortunately, I'm leaving on a pilgrimage trip for the next 10 days, but rest assured, your article is ensuring that I leave with a happy heart.

Thank you for sharing your hard work on the Moonlight Prince with us!

Also, with your article, the insideskating article... I really want to write something on Moonlight Sonata, I just want to wait until after Worlds to work on it because I have a good feeling that it will be an important piece. I'm sending prayers and good vibes to Shoma that it will be.

I swear, OniBan, I think we have twin brains or something sometimes XD

I loved your article, and I would give it another read before Worlds to pick up on what you note. But call me a heretic, I am still huge on the STH, despite the mind-blowingly awesome MS at the 4CC. Fingers crossed for seeing something out of this world in the end of the month.

Am not probably gonna be that lucky, as to get SU assigned to SC this coming year, particulary if YH does retire, but I am going to make my second attempt at buying tickets for GP. I was looking at Zagreb’s stadium this weekend and I was like... darn, maybe it’s not impossible, though the difference b/w senior & Junior is huge.

I think StH has a huge potential, it just has not been skated to its full potential yet. He still has a chance to conquer my heart with his short though... ;)

Have a safe trip, rabidline!

Thank you so much for the article and the English translation, dr. H! I read it as soon as I saw it on my tl. For me it’s really eye-opening since I have very little musical knowledge and while I could see how well Shoma’s movements matched the notes and the beautiful flow of the program there were a lot of details that I didn’t notice. Moonlight Shomata definitely grew on a lot of people, me included, although I’ve loved this piece for a long time and I was really excited when Shoma announced the FS.

Can’t wait for Worlds, it’s the first time in a while I’m thinking about a competition without being nervous...I mean I’m nervous but in a good way this time, idk how to explain

I have a sneaking suspicion that he will be building up both, because I don’t think he’s the ‘wait to win’ sort. Or, at least, it’s the image they try to create around him. I do believe it, no matter my being jaded.

Obviously, I here have no clue if he could theoretically win WC point by point, or if he can pull his skating quality grades up by that one to one and half point he is short from 10/10.

Is anyone planning to attend Worlds next week to see Shoma? I have tickets to see the ladies but I am still hanging onto the small hope I can secure tickets to see Shoma compete. Getting tickets for the men's event days has been impossible. :palmf: It would be nice to meet or see a few fellow Shoma fans while I'm there!

Resale tickets are crazy as usual. I am able to get practice tickets though and hope he comes in the main rink one.

Thank you! 💐 Such a pleasure to read your post. I wasn’t so thrilled with the choice of MS but like you I fell in love with it. I always wonder why and your post answered those questions.
