Thank you so much for coming to Vincent's FF to tell us this exciting information. already PM. Can NOT wait to watch and hear CBC commentary of Vincent's FS.:luv17::love::luv17:

downloaded and watched CBC commentary, Uncle Kurt confirmed he has met Vincent for the first time. and some nice words about Vincent. "very thoughtful and incredibly intelligent young man, he wants so badly to be seen as a SKATER as well as jumper... trying to prove those jumps are around...".

but in figure skating, there is always a narrative or a script..
Now, unfortunately Vincent's arch (this season) is all about under-rotation and ignored other effort Vincent has worked so hard in other aspects of figure skating. And this arch is shoved and pasted onto him...
I think it is unfair, but it is what it is. Once the narrative is there, it is needed to "broadcast" it to a TV audience... even beloved CBC has to comply.

Uncle Kurt genuinely loves figure skating from his soul as always, and he supports every up-and-coming youngsters including Vincent.

As I know Vincent, I believe he will continue work hard and smart to improve ALL aspects of his figure skating and change the narratives through his own effort. And eventually control his own fate.

Kurt also mentioned that modified Chinese kungfu squat (horse stance) stop which created a contact moment with the judges/audience. Vincent fans have suggested Vincent to keep this move, although it may need to be changed perhaps due to stsq level consideration, thus were very happy, a modified version has been kept

I am very very busy, when I get a break, I will post feedbacks, constructive suggestions, and music/program analysis like before.

Wish Vincent's preparation for Worlds goes smoothly and injury free and best of luck.:luv17:

CBC commentary also mentioned the voyage of finding a voice/identity for up and coming skaters to differentiate themselves. I will quote @riedell Vincent "keep doing you", do not try to copy what is considered "cool" or try to follow others' path that may considered more successful. just you do you and you will find your way.

Can NOT wait to watch your "Slow dancing in the dark", Nobody have ever used it in figure skating.

eta, And thank you Dear Joshua Farris for choreo Vincent's EXs and helping Vincent's skating. Joshua is one of the most talented figure skater ever:yahoo:
And Europsports Commentary of Vincent's FS also has some insightful points and constructive suggestions.

ETA, works with, collaborates with those personnel who are truly passionate and gifted in figure skating has been and will always be a rewarding, fun and happy experience. please continuing doing that Vincent. "learn from them like a sponge" this is actually a quote about my fav skater.

Adorable Vincent wool doll by a very creative Japanese fan. The details on the costume are superb!

Rockerskating's practice notes:

Also, a note from earlier that never got through to Twitter - Vincent Zhou's practices this week have probably been cleaner in rotation and more confident than any that I've seen from him this season; good time to do it!

Zhou: 3S, 4S, 4Lz3T, runthru (4Lz3T, 4F(ur?fall), 4S, 4T(ur,step), 3A2T, 3A, 3Lz1Eu3F)
Zhou: 3Lz, 3A, 4S, 4S, 4S, 4Lz3T, 4Lz, runthru (4T3T, 4S, 3A), 4T(ur?), 4T, 2T, 2T(step), 4T, 3Lz1Eu3F, 3A
Zhou: 3Lz, 3S, 3F, 3A2T, 4S(step), 4T(ur?step), 4T, 1Lz, 4Lz3T, runthru (4Lz3T, 4S, 3F, 4T(ur?step), 3A2T, 3A, 3Lz1Eu3F), 4T, 3A
Zhou: 3Lz, 3S, 3A, 4S(turn), 4S, 4Lz3T(hangs on), 4Lz(hangs on), runthru (4Lz3T, 4S, 3A(ur?)), 3A, 4T, 4F, 4F(hangs on), 1Lz, 4Lz3T, 3A, 4S

Congrats to Vincent and the US Men for their great SP performances!

Here are a couple of YT video links: B Esp & Russian. Hurry before they get deleted! It's interesting how the Russians can pronounce his surname well.

Pictures of Vincent waving from Kiss&Cry, with Lori Nichol. Glad that Lori was there to provide support & encouragement. ISU still has the wrong information on their bio page, listing Jeff as the choreographer for SP and Lori for the FS. It's funny that the B ESP uncles were saying that the program looked like a Jeffrey Buttle piece. Lori, please straighten them out! :palmf:

Video of Vincent speaking with reporters. Similar content provided on Fanzone: "That felt really special," Zhou said. "I'm really grateful to have such a great team behind me and my choreographer Lori Nichol for helping me to develop my artistry and to create such a special program. It felt magical skating it out there and I'm really grateful that I can end the season with a short program like that."

Good luck to Vincent in the FS this Saturday! Go Team USA!

Very informative article - he works with so many coaches and choreographers! He has improved a lot this season.

Great SP yesterday ... the B.ESP guys loved it! and good luck to Vincent tomorrow!:hap10:

Just saw on Jackie's practice report that Vincent had a clean runthru with 3 quads and 2 3As. Not many people are talking about Vincent but he can definitely play spoiler!

Thanks for the link to the article, ice coverage. That was a very insightful article from Lynn. Hopefully, this will help to dispel the reputation of Vincent as a quadster that only cares about his jumps.

Notable quotes:

"Magical performances that trigger emotion don't happen when I feel like a robot going from end to end doing quads."
"Rather, the emotions build through movement and interpretation of the music, combined with successful jumping passes. When it all comes together, that's when great moments happen."

"At the start of the season, when focusing on ingraining new choreo into muscle memory, it was much harder to skate freely," Zhou wrote. "But now that my body has learned the movements and the patterns are solid habit, the potential energy starts to become kinetic, so to speak – but only if I put in the effort."

"Scores are too subjective to measure improvement," he wrote. "Once I start to feel better about my skating – not jumping – it gradually shows more and more. Eventually, others start to notice, and as long as I keep pushing myself to develop my artistry, changes will occur."

So proud of Vincent for putting in all the hard work and dedication to grow as an all around skater. Thanks to Lori for helping him to develop his artistry with a great SP this season. And much appreciation goes out to Tom Dickson, who gave some very poignant advice to Vincent:

"Sometimes you just glide, open up and embody your space," he said. "The biggest revelation for Vincent is there can be moments of less. You need to build to a crescendo, to get to different movements and energy that relate to differences in musical energy… Even when you do hard, intricate movements, you shouldn't feel your mind is boggled by it. There has to be a simplicity running through it." (Satoko has that down pat!)

To fulfill that vision, Dickson urges Zhou to apply Buddhist imagery and feeling to performances of his Asian-themed free skate.

"There's a lovely section of music when (cellist) Yo-Yo Ma is playing; I tell Vincent, 'Feel you are in a temple, breathing correctly, not holding everything in your shoulders. Skate like you're in a beautiful temple,'" he said.

Vincent, here's hoping you will skate like you are in a beautiful temple in the FS! Do your best and go out with a bang! :cheer:

Just saw on Jackie's practice report that Vincent had a clean runthru with 3 quads and 2 3As. Not many people are talking about Vincent but he can definitely play spoiler!

So did I call it or what?

Congrats to Vincent!

So happy for Vincent's great skate and a bronze that not many thought would happen (except for those here!). The competition was wonderful and congrats to Vincent for all his hard work pulling all of his skating elements together and laying it all out there with no regrets.
Nathan was out of this world magnificent. Loved that Hanyu was back competing and made the event a top notch event.

Congratulations to Vincent in winning the bronze medal, getting on the podium with 2 super champs! All his hard work paid off! What a way to end the season with a personal best and a redemption Worlds skate, proving that he is a top contender! :yahoo:

Congrats also to Nathan for a magnificent win! So good to see him and Vincent taking pictures together with the American flag! So proud of our American quadster boys! :cheer::cheer:

Time for me to go to bed!

Congrats to Vincent! The goal of Worlds podium may have seemed very ambitious - but he did it!!:luv17:
