A CHAMPIONS ON ICE TOUR FAN FAVORITE IS EXPECTING FIRST CHILD
DENVER, Colo. (April 9, 2007) – Two-time Olympic skating medalist Irina Slutskaya today announced that she will not perform in the 2007 Champions on Ice tour because she recently learned that she will be busy with an important off-ice job --- becoming a mother.
Slutskaya, 28, will be staying at her home in Russia during her pregnancy. Slutskaya and her husband, Sergei Micheev, are expecting their first child this fall. Slutskaya married Micheev, a Russian fitness instructor, in 1999.
One of the fan favorites on the tour, Slutskaya will be unable to skate because she continues to be treated for vasculitis, an ailment which results in the inflammation of the blood vessels. Slutskaya decided it was better for her to stay in her native Moscow than to travel and tour in the United States.
Diagnosed in 2004 with vasculitis, Slutskaya has often been too fatigued to stay in top form. However, she somehow managed to train well enough in 2005 to claim her second World Championship title in 2005. She followed that up by winning a bronze medal in the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy.
A seven-time European champion, Slutskaya also won the Olympic silver medal at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
Slutskaya’s fun-loving ways and ever-present smile definitely will be missed by her friends on the tour......

when it's confirmed in a reputable source I'll believe it. (Just too many of these false rumors to believe it initially with no link
