2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Certainly Tarusina would have the visa ready since she's on the substitute list, right? But she's still post-op and likely not ready... Why was she given the substitute spot in the first place? This is unacceptable if Russia only has one skater there. It is a HUGE mistake. They didn't have enough spots for all their girls, and to just squander a slot is unbelievable. Ugh.

Fully agree. Really poor planning from FFKKR.

But the USA visa problem is serious and a retaliation over Russian politics.
So probably more sports and Russian athletes invited to compete in the US will face this problem.

I have no idea if a Russian athlete can keep his visa dormant or needs to have a particular goal and time span for registration of any visa which then gets an expiration date?

Russia in return will probably make it difficult for US athletes to apply for a Russian visa.

Sad but true as is often the case with politics.

What kind of op? Poor kiddo.

In Lake Placid wasn't there enough room for three Russian spots?

I heard that it's really hard to get an US visa in Russian, waiting time is several moths, sometimes even a year. So I think they couldn't really do anything better than subscribing all the girls who are lucky enough to have one for the spots. This time, I tuink we can't relly blame the federation for the problems....

OK, let's not pretend, nobody considered conspiracy theory here. ;)

One of two Russian girls is pretty much guaranteed to finish 3rd or lower below Alysa and the other Russian, most likely losing getting another chance in JGP, so the coaches assess/make a deal who's in better form and the weaker one fakes "force majeure" exit to keep the chance for two JGP spots later and potential JGPF... :)

All those Mishin/Lozko/Tuk's 1st coach intrigues are influencing me too much...

Who knows? Has happened before, so ...

It is a visa wasted and added to the tally for Russian figure skaters ...

Now, will FFKKR reassign JGP starts to maximize the number of RUS entries into JGPF? Or will they bet on Valiyeva and Kanysheva?

I really had high hopes for Kseniya to do well, fighting for Silver with Tarakanova and who knows for Gold with Lyu.

13 year olds Khromykh and Usachyova, 17 year olds Tarusina and Vasil’yeva, who to pull, who to push?

About EU visas, many countries in the EU have a particular bone to pick with Russia and might deny visas too?

US is probably also concerned over illegal immigration?

Especially because this happened so suddenly right after Maya got a bronze with a 179 and likely won't need to get a second spot, hence RusFed has one more spot to give out to Kseniia and can safely withdraw her from Lake Placid...

(Please note I'm saying this with the same salt pinch as I do when I say the moon is a simulation)

We say "you watch TV too much".

Has this been mentioned before? Kanysheva and Tarakanova were assigned to JGP Zagreb. Sorry if it was mentioned and I missed it.

There is odd number (11) of spots left. If Maya won't get a second spot, substitute will get only one spot. I doesn't make any sense.

I don't think it was discussed already. But the entries in the second half of the JGP can change according to the results of the previous competitions.

I’m guessing Sinitsyna is done. Surely they will not have enough spots left for a later assignment much less 2 along with everyone who did well enough in their first assignment and should get 2 (Valieva, likely Kanysheva and Tarakanova - the latter has better shot at JGP USA now - at least one of Tarusina/Vasilieva, maybe Usacheva).

Such a shame, I think she had a really good shot on the final this year.

If you move the map to the right, you'll see the ponds, where girls go for the walk and feed ducks in free time. :)

:otopic: I've never done a Google Earth view over Moscow and I'm surprised over how much nature there is! It's amazing, beautiful. :luv17:

Thought so too, based on Test Skates. Sinitsyna looked so ready for business, but alas. Still, I'd rate her higher than both CSKA skaters, who know might find their Chelyabinsk start taken away from them?

FFKKR confirmed there were problems with Sinitsyna's documents.

I don't think it's so glum if she gets better soon. It's still doable. If she's injured, I wish her to get better soon!

Well that's really a shame :S

But she was just in the USA a few weeks ago? I don’t understand.

Not everything is a conspiracy ;)
I had colleagues arrive at the airport before business travels without valid visas/documents and then miss their flights.
Even the most responsible of us can mess up their documents too, things like that happen all the time.

This is a harsh statement. As much as I like Kanysheva, Sinitsyna was the second best junior lady at test skates. It’s not her fault that there are problems with her visa. She actually went to the US to train this off-season, didn‘t she? I wonder why problems occur now and didn‘t back then... On the one hand, it makes it easier for Tarakanova to get to the final now since she‘ll finish with silver at worst but it’s such a shame for Kseniia. Poor girl. I do hope she‘s not done and rusfed recognizes her talent. She deserves a JGP spot. Everything else would be unfair. She didn‘t even have a chance to prove herself internationally yet this season.
